Back to the grind today with Easter weekend over, still no boat though so were pretty low on food :/ meh...
This morning we had to do the monthly checks which is a tedious mission of checking fire alarms extinguishers and exits in the farmhouse, barracks and driftwood cottage.
We also had to check the sprinkler system.
After this we went on a nest sweep to destroy the nests of gulls on the managed half of the island. Although this sounds mean its important for two reasons they get aggressive when they have chicks and also because the nitrogen in their poo puts nutrients in the soil causing an unbalance in the vegetative ecosystem!
Them after lunch (beans on toast) we completed another survey. This one a ladybird survey, there wasn't many because of the winds (we think) we only counted 39 7 spot lady bird! Luckily there was no harlequin on the island (invasive ladybirds) (BAD)
Then we bagged all the rubble and took it down to the crane ready to be lugged down the jetty and onto the boat! It's Gemma B last day on the island and unfortunately no slap up feast (Due to food) but did manage to make her an apple crumble with Los of cinnamon!
(also learned how to pick up a chicken today)
Tomorrow the boss arrives and his hen along with Jamie and Ross! Many hands make light work.... Hopefully although it feels like our little family of four is being split up!
