We had a very busy day here in Albany. The weather was excellent being a sunny 21 deg. We set off to whale world where we learned about the whaling industry in Australia up until 1978. I learned whale oil was used for lipstick, perfume, candles and margarine. We took a guided tour where we looked at all the old equipment and different skeletons. We saw a blue whale skeleton which took up a whole shed. It weighed about 30 African bull elephants, its tongue alone weighing I elephant. It's blood vessels were large enough to crawl through & it had a blood capacity of 15000 litres. We went on board the Cheynes 4 (an old whale chaser) and saw how the ship worked and how they killed the whales. After whale world we looked at the Albany blowhole but the surf wasn't large enough for it to be blowing. We looked at the natural bridge and the gap. It was very high. We drove back to town and went inside the old Albany gaol where the lady told us stories about old prisoners. We went inside the Albany museum where leaned about history and war. We drove up to the lookout/war memorial where we had a great view of Albany. After a big day we relaxed in the spa. We're ready tomorrow to drive into the Margie Riv.
