This week I took two surf classes. The first one wasn't too bad, at least we learned the basics of getting up (at least one version of it, apparently everyone is doing it differently), and managed to surf a few seconds on a white wave. The second surf lesson was useless, because the teacher just told me the same stuff again, and spend the rest of the time with chatting up random chicks.
So I rented a board for one week. The first time on my own I though this is gonna be a catastrophy, but then I saw someone surfing just on her belly, and I thought that's a good idea to get started. So belly-surfing worked quite well, and after 10 waves or so I got a feeling for the wave and when it starts to carry you. Next, I got up on the knees, and finally I managed to do a bit of standing up. This is pretty much where I am - can stand on white waves with a probability of 50% or so, and managed a couple of seconds on waves before or when they break (but at this point I usually loose control). Something to build on.
Definitely a lot of fun!
