It's day three in paradise, alias, Rarotonga, the capital of the Cook Islands in the Pacific ... and it's HOT 'n HUMID - a far cry from the weather back home which judging by the message board postings is very cold and snowy.
This morning we managed a 4-hour cross-island trek through pretty thick jungle, rising to a height of 400 metres. The views were amazing and the cooling wind at the top was very welcome. Yesterday we went 20 miles around the island on a scooter we've rented for the week. We had a few stop-offs; including the spectacular Muri lagoon where we managed to improve our sunburn even further! Fran's got 'scooter arm' sunburn as she's the main driver.
We've had a couple of beautiful sunsets across the road from where we're staying and plan some snorkelling and sea kayaking in the days to come.
Oh yes, and Fran killed a big cheeky cockroach in our lodge last night - a reminder that all of our trip won't be a holiday but an experience ... cos there's going to be loads more 'roaches in Asia.
