Xmas Day 2011
Third time lucky
Can you believe I have lost this Xmas blog 3 times, help !!!!!!!!!!
Well what a fantastic day it was, once again all that was missing was you guys.
In the morning I went to the market to get every ones breakfast, which turned into Scrambled eggs and crusty bread, Sharon cooked it she is here with son Darren & Daughter-in-law sarah. They have been before.
The market was as normal, crazy no sign of Xmas day there. Pigs squealing chickens trying to escape, I even bought toilet brushes, foot stools and cleaning products. Never done that before, on Xmas day.
At 12.45 I went to the orphanage as the decision was made to keep the kids out the back, in the dining room while the Bouncy castle was delivered and erected. It was meant to be for 15 mins that turned into hour. So not only did I explain to them about keeping the toilets clean and tidy, it had to go into singing etc. If your happy and you know it shout merry Xmas etc, when the guys heard it for about the 20th time think they realized we where in trouble keeping them interested. Poor little things , not what you want on Xmas day. Also Bong Seng the manager was there he has total control on them.
But there faces when they where let loose and ran around the front was worth it, plus they forgot about the boring part.
For two hours they bounced, loving it and so did we. Dangerous exercise for me but how can you explain that to them.
Then they all went off and got showered and changed, they really take care of there appearance and the girls plait there hair or straighten it. Great care plus make up they made us look very casual.
At 4.00 Neville turned up on his Squad bike dressed as a fairy ( a bet he lost as the guys raised 2500.00 on Just giving) Thanks to those that donated. He was accompanied by father Xmas and other motor cyclists. They looked very spectacular as they drove in, kids faces once again a picture.
At this point Jess had to leave to catch her flight, so many tears, she wasn't going to go. But she had to really hard for her,
In the orphanage it looked set up for a wedding tables chairs, stage etc. Father Xmas was on the stage and time to deliver the presents one by one they where called out, I videoed it. If you ever get a spare few hours !!!! After the presentation the band started up and food was delivered to the tables. Which was typical Cambodian food, of course. Children where starving, we were to but with a little more apprehension.
The evening got off to a good start children looking at there presents, then scurrying off with them to hide them in there private boxes. Everyone was up dancing so we had a great evening.
Before I left I went looking for Sou the security guy/farmer he is 24 and a amazing clever person, I had a little present for him. Which he accepted with great excitement even though he apparently got two others !!!!! So I gave him my Xmas tee shirt he was over joyed . Bless him. Then he produced for me a carving he had made for me from a picture he had taken from a book about Ankor Wat. He said it is my Angel to keep me safe that he would remember me till his last breath. How amazing to have someone say that to you. Got to say I wouldn't buy one but I will always treasure it. So clever . These Cambodian people are they most radiant friendly happy people I have ever come across.
So that was my Xmas day for 2011 as much as I miss family I wouldn't have missed it for the world, only wish you could share it and do it sometime. But I have loads of Photos and videos. !!!!!!!! Im sure I have missed out loads to my last blogs but it gets a bit tedious trying to rewrite.
So it is Boxing Day here, I`m feeling a little flat today, but I will go into that one later.
