Day 6 - Saturday - Dawes Glacier
Woke to our arrival at the Dawes Glacier at the end of Endicott Arm & everyone on board was given a skiff ride through the "bergy bits" to near the wall of ice where it meets the water. Pieces were calving off the main face, some making a huge splash, roar & waves as they crashed into the water. This ice is so blue that it's quite different to some others we've seen & the water is a gorgeous turquoise too. What an amazing experience to be so close to this awesome sight & witness the calving of huge chunks of ice - it's been such a privilege to be here in this wilderness.
Had an afternoon kayak in some quiet waters with waterfalls & great rock formations along the shore & decided we enjoy this kayaking very much. The final event was a "polar plunge" by some of the crew & guests into the freezing water. Quite a few brave souls did this - Mark 3 times - but he has an affinity with the ocean like few others. Geoff was the last one in & was bursting with excitement after this crazy act.
Final evening had another lovely dinner followed by a slide show, taken by the crew, of all of us during our week of cruising.
This has been a superb cruise in one of the most magic places & we were blessed with perfect weather, unsurpassed scenery, great food & wine, friendly crew, new experiences & wonderful company of some new friends. Happy days!

brycyn Dear Jean and Geoff, can't tell you how much we have enjoyed your cruise. The photos are amazing, and I can feel the spiritual peace that being in such a beautiful, quite unspoilt place gives you. Look forward to the rest of your trip! God bless, love Cynthia and Bryan.
