OK ... Wednesday we crossed the border from Kenya into Tanzania - was that an experience! It's crazy, but exciting as well ... We drove back from the Masai Mara to Arusha and have made our camp at a snake park for the night - YES A SNAKE PARK! Seen a black mamba in the cages, it was awesome .. but a bit sad cos there were also a couple of little chicks in there with it ... that weren't there this morning! :(
Anyway, went from the snake park to the Serengeti 2 days ago, and spent the night there ... picture this - we game drive in the morning, then all of a sudden we seen hyena's, how exciting, so we stop the vehicle to take photo's and stuff, then the truck wont start again - so we all have to get out and push ... have photo's of that too!! hehe ... But then, we get it going and drive a bit further and see some lions sleeping, 3 girls all cuddling nicely, then the trucks stops, and spot 2 more in the distance (about 15m away) just watching us! And our truck wont start .. then the lions wake up, and they are only about 5 metres from our truck, and one stands up and it has a cub - so a bit protective!!! Ekkks ... anyway, we radioed for another to truck to come and get us and our driver had to get out and play under the bonnet for a bit .. glad it was him and not me! So that was all fine, we drove onto our camp site were the cooks were all preparing our food for the night in a cage so the wild animals wouldn't get them, they had also set up their tents and stuff in the cage ... but were did we have to sleep - OUTSIDE THE CAGE!!!I It was the worst night sleep of my life, I heard hyerna's alll night, and we reckon a lion as well .. crazy stuff!
Next day we did a morning game drive, seen a leopard - now have our count up to 4 of the 'big 5', and then headed to Ngorongoro Crater and camped there for the night were an elephant came wandering through the camp and drank out our water tank ... ewww!!!
Yesterday we did a game driver through the crater, and then drove back the the snake park. Grabbed our packs and bordered the bus ready to head into Camp Tembo tonight ... but our bus broke down before we got out of the camp .. so that's why we've got free time now in Arusha!!! Once our bus is back on the road, we will be heading to Camp Tembo, then onto Pangani River for the night then over the Del es Saalam and then into Zanzibar ... can't wait!!! I think we can get back on the net in Zanzibar and update again then, so until then .. Hakuna Matata rafeki's - YES they do say that here, missing you all heaps and heaps, and can't wait to see you all soon, we can give you a Swahili lesson!!! he he
