Back in Osaka for our final 3 days of Japan we attended a party at Ben's house. The party was scheduled so that we could see the fireworks extravaganza from his balcony. To be honest the best part about the party was mingling with the REAL Japanese people, and impressing them with our 5 words we knew from their language!
The picture shows the wide variety in dress styles they adapt, from short mini skirts to traditional yukatas. Yukatas are a style of Kimonos; luxurious robes in 100% cotton, or soft, finely brushed natural rayon.Flora managed to shock our newly befriended natives when she told them we too had a Yukata?.recently stolen from a hotel in Tokyo!!!
In true Japanese style we finished off our party night with Karaoke?a sight or should I say a sound for sore ears!?!
The last place we visited in Japan was Kyoto a city famous for its temples, and a big tourist spot. We saw Golden shrines (as seen in the picture) dating back hundreds of years, and old traditional streets full of tiny wooden houses. We proudly managed to negotiate ourselves around the busy streets of Kyoto on local bus transport, where no-one spoke a word of English.
The next day we left Japan for Thailand ????.to be continued
