Espanola Island
We started the morning with a trip to the beach and free time for about three hours. The beach was beautiful golden sand covered in sea lions in marine iguanas. We walked up and down taking heaps of pictures – amazing how close you can get to them all. There was one really cute little sea lion who was like a puppy and playing with a stick in his mouth and trailing it alone the beach with him – very cute.
Gerard then went for a final snorkel out around some rocks – visibility wasn’t that good but they still got to see lots of fishes – I rugged up on the beach under some towels trying to avoid the sun and getting burnt to a crisp. A couple in our group had made a sand castle and this really cute little sea lion though it was the bees knees and he was jumping all over it and rubbing him self and claimed it as his.
Gerard swam back from the rocks straight to the boat – quite a long way but he made it no sweat. He then was jumping off the boat with the others – well almost as much of the others – they even threatened to push him he was taking so long to jump. During lunch we motored to another part of the island and then in the afternoon we went for a walk around the island. During our lunch/siesta time me and Taylor played cards – he is a card shark but taught me a cool game which he proceeded to beat me at almost every time!!
This afternoon was the best island we had been too. We saw blue footed boobies doing their mating dance, hooded boobies, marine iguanas, sally light foots, sea lions – including the dominant male fighting off some losers, land iguanas, albatross, Galapagos doves, a Galapagos hawk, a wicked big blow hole, and some oyster catches. This was so wicked – we saw everything – we were here for about three hours and it was so cool. There was a place called the Albatross airport which was where the albatross all took off and landed and flew up and down the cliff front – very cool – there was heaps of them here and they have only just started to come back to the island.
Today was a wicked day and once again we finished with another amazing meal and off to bed early – you get so tired it is unbelievable. We motored during the night again to our next island which is Santa Cruz.
