The Adventures Of Fletch
7th Dec - 24th Dec
Sydney is a mad, mad place. It is a death trap if your trying to watch the money as everyone is out on the piss every night and it's difficult to get out of it. Anyway. we got up early on the 8th to take Kat and Em out on a tour of the city as Adz and I have both been here before. We took them to the usual spots of interest, Paddy's Market, Market city, darling harbour and of course the Opera House and bridge. This took most of the day, which worked out well as we are all out for Adzy's last night as he's back off to the UK on the 9th. Needless to say we all got hammered in the world famous side bar which is located right under our hostel. I entertained the masses with some great comedy dance moves involving all the usual crap. Class.
Adzey and I mooched round the town the next morning so he could collect as much sovenier tat as he could carry to take take home. We went off to Scruffy Murphy's for a $5 dollar feed before we all had to gather outside and bid him farewell. He didn't want to go and who can blame him as we've had a top few weeks. Cheers Mate. Once he'd gone I went back to my room where one of the guys Steve from Swindon invited me out with a couple of chicks from brimingham Amy and Ruth from our room. We all went down side bar where he introduced me to a few of the fellas Andy (crouchy, as he's really tall), James (Besty, as he looks like Callum Best), Pete (Irish) and Jamie. We all had a top night and got pissed again.
On the 11th I went to coogee beach to check it out. It was quite nice although the waves were pretty crap compared to bondi. On the way back i spotted an outdoor olympic sized swimming pool so did a few lengths. I had to get out after a while though as an electrical storm broke and it's not advisable to be in a pool when there's fork lightening crashin down everywhere. I also managed to get some tickets for gatecrasher for me, matt and chelle for christmas day which was good as loads of people from the hostel are going as well. Went to Taronga zoo on the 14th which was different as I had to get a ferry across to the other side of the harbour and then a cable car across the zoo to the entrance. Loads of the usual to see and it it took me 6 hours to get round it, so it's pretty big.
Met up with Matt and chelle on the 16th as all of us went to the blue mountains for 4 days. We caught the train from the station which took us 2hrs to reach Katoomba. It was pretty cold up there so we went and got some food, eat it and went to the local pub to watch the football. The next day was chill out day as Matt and I had to watch ArsenalVPompey in a replay of Saturdays game in the afternoon. We went 2-0 up so was giving him loads of stick, but in true pompey stile we threw it away and drew 2-2 much to young Matt's relief. 18th was good as we walked all through the rainforest to the vertical train which is the steepest in the world. Saw some waterfalls and stuff before the train took us to the top where the views were amazing. Saw the famous 3 sisters which was basically a weird rock formation. The next day saw us head for the Jenola caves which was good. We got to stroll round a couple of cave systems and check out some weird limestone formations which was class.
Headed back to Sydney on the 20th and checked into the same room at Wakeup as before. Steve informed me that the next day was vodka challenge day, so we chilled out in the evening to brace ourselves for tomorrows wreckage. We got ourselves a bottle of vodka between the two of us and James and Steve's mate Amy got one between them and Nathan joined us as well. We sat playing drinking games for a couple of hours, before being joined by Irish, crouchy and Jamie to watch the mess unfold. By 8:30 Steve and I had gunned our vodka and by 11 steve was hugging the toilet. I however cracked on and went out with the others only to wake up in the morning with a giant afro wig on and a pair of sunglasses on,and no recolection of wht happend. Sign of a good night.
Matt + Chelle arrived in Sydney on the 23rd so met up with them in Side bar for a few. We were joined by Chelle's mate Kerry who coincidentally I met in Fiji. Weird. Anyway predictably we all got drunk but it was good fun too see everyone again.
Christmas eve and I was going to show Matt, Chelle and Kerry round the city but we got as far as Darling Harbour and it started raining, so we soon knocked that on the head. We decided to take it easy xmas eve as the next day was going to be a biggun at gatecrasher. I met up with Kat and Em in side bar as they had returned from a couple of weeks in Melbourne, so mucked around with them for a bit, and in the end I got quite hammered. I took myself off to bed about 1ish so I was fighting fit for xmas day extraveganza.
Updates to follow. Merry christmas all.
