Day 9 Niagara -Washington Via Maryland.
Well up nice and early, left hotel on the American side of Niagara falls at 07.30am. The rain is pouring down, if we were in the far east this would be a monsoon? left traveling now in New York state driving through towards Maryland and passing through a Amish village along the way, the tour guide explained their way of life very intresting. By now the rain had stopped and we where driving through the country side where the American civil war took place. We pass through the Mason- Dixon line in Pennsylvania and drove past Fredrick town and Hangerstown, we even stop off along the way to take photo's where the civil war took place. In the 1850's the Mason- Dixon line Symbolically became the culture boundary between the northan and southern united states. On our way once more heading towards Washinghton D.C then we where there on the outskirts of D.C it looks very suburban, but as we got closer to our hotel people were getting excited again. Our hotel is the Hilton made famous by a assassination attempt on the former president Regan?in the 1980's. On arrival at the Hilton and check in we checked out the view from the room in the distance we could see the Washington Monument, the group took the night excursion to view the city at night but we chose to walk and explore on foot. We both headed to the metro and walked towards China town and down towards The F.B.I building /J . Edgar Hoover Building. We arrived at the Washington memorial to take some photo's and looking at Capitol Hill in the distance this building looks fantastic all lit up at night. On the way back we stopped off for a meal in a nice city bar every body was very nice and helpful, then we headed back to the hotel.
