Day 23: Broome. What can I say about Broome? It's a sprawling town of corrugated iron and red dust. And pearl shop, after pearl shop.
I think, if you're into fishing in a big way, Broome is your town. Or if pearls tickle your fancy...maybe then. But otherwise I have to admit...I'm a little underwhelmed so far.
We went to Cable Beach with all the expectations afforded us from the brochures, and, well, I was a bit disappointed (sorry Broome). Yes, it was 22 miles long, and yes, it had the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. But I don't know...maybe I have been spoilt by the pristine beaches of the South Coast of NSW?!
We saw the sun set at Gantheaume Point and it was like it fell off the end of the earth. This massive ball of fire, hindered by nothing, and then 'blink' it was gone.
We ended the night with fish & chips from Bluey's, which was delicious.
Tomorrow we are visiting Malcolm Douglas's Croc Farm.
