Day 72: Another cloud-free day greets us, but we must press on.
After a stressful hitch up and awkward exit, we say goodbye to Hervey Bay, and continue down the Bruce Hwy.
We decide to stay at Landsborough for a couple of days, as there is a lot to see in this area. We are still winging the caravan parks, but today we were turned away...no vacancies.
So, we try Beerwah. But this time I ring ahead...ten minutes! Sure, no problem. Come on down. The brochure says "on 11 acres of farmland, wake up surrounded by strawberries". And so it is. The boys can't believe it!
And the pineapples. They have seen pineapples growing from the highway, but to be able to see them up close...cool. And there are free ones, and strawberries too.
And the sites? Spacious...
After we setup, we head up to Mt Ngungun, one of the Glasshouse Mountains. It's surrounded by agriculture: pineapples, sugarcane, strawberries...it's beautiful.
We decide to climb the 2.2kms to the top, to see the 360 degree views. Now keep in mind, that we haven't done ANY walking or gorging since Kakadu.
The boys whinge, I huff & puff, but Craig powers up there! I finally make it, red faced and breathless...but what a view! Just amazing.
You can see all the way to the ocean, Maroochydore, Coloundra and Brisbane. The other Glasshouse Mts and all the farming...such a beautiful view. Very hard to capture on camera.
It's a great way to end the day...
