Day 61: The drive to McKinlay is another big one, but we break it up with a stop in Mt Isa.
We grab some groceries and stop in at the Information Centre. We gather all the info we need for the last leg of our trip, and get back on the road.
McKinlay has a population of 20. It's a tiny little town that had a resurgence of life when the movie 'Crocodile Dundee' used the pub in the movie. They even changed the name to Walkabout Creek Hotel.
We stay overnight in the attached caravan park, and it's even colder than Camooweal!
Road trains carrying cattle pass through most of the night, as there is a major turnoff to a long list of properties.
As we wander the main street, we see a personal training group in action. This must be 4 of the locals! The boys are playing tennis on the old courts as the sun goes down, and all the while, we are in the middle of nowhere!!!
It's all very surreal...
