After an evening exploring the impossible to remember back streets of Thamel in Kathmandu we were driven in a Taxi very similar to an Ace Cab to the airport. When we say airport, it was more like a bus station on a busy day. Eventually and we've no idea how, we were called to board the twelve seater to Lukla.
The flight was interesting, we had a great view on the mountains and thankfully the skilled pilot managed to land us on the 300m runway perched on the side of the mountain. From there we treked for a couple of hours before stopping at a small guest house with the last hot shower of the trek.
Yesterday was tough with a four trek to our lunch spot then a very painful three hours climbing up a never ending staircase to the town of Namche Bazar (3440m). Today we climbed again to the Everest View Hotel (3890m) for our first glimse of Mt. Everest and a hot chocolate! We are now back in Namche for the rest of the day as part of our aclimitisation routine.
Tomorrow we have another hard slog to a small town at 4000m.
The weather has been stunning during the day with bright sunshine then well below freezing at night with snow yesterday evening. We are both well, coping with the altitude and fingers crossed it will stay that way.
