Up at 6.30 because I have not booked a ticket so I am just going to turn up and get on the first bus available. I say goodbye to Miao, she is also up to allow her to go to the airport and have enough time to do some shopping, because obviously she hasn't done enough! She jumps in a taxi and I head up the street to catch one at the end of the road. I don't have to wait too long for a
taxi to pull up and I get my ride to the station by the meter. Traffic isn't too bad as its early in the morning, so it only ends up costing me little less than 100bht. I get in to the bus station and after having a look around I don't see the desk for Sukothai so I go over and ask at the information counter. I'm directed downstairs and outside to a ticket window. I get myself a ticket for 9.30 so just a little wait. I grab some food at the 7/11 and head to the platform. There is plenty of hustle and bustle and so I just have to keep showing my ticket to some official looking guys who eventually direct me to my bus.

I get on and can pick any seat. This is easily the best bus I have ever been on. My seat can recline without bothering the people behind and I can flick out a rest for my feet. On top of this there is plenty of room between me and the person beside and I have a good working AC vent. Outstanding! I get some sleep on the bus before we stop for some food. Some type of spicy noodle for me. Back on the bus and back to sleep. It isn't long before we have stopped again. There is some problem with the bus. We are stopped for nearly 2 hours before they fix the problem. This is pretty disappointing for me because I have not sorted any accommodation for Sukothai and I had hoped to be there during the day, which is not looking likely at this stage. I get chatting to a couple from England who are also going to Sukothai, so maybe I can share a tuk tuk with them in to the town. At last the bus is repaired and we start moving again, I promptly get myself back to sleep.

When we arrive at Sukothai I was expecting to be dropped at a bus station, but no, the side of the road somewhere. Though there are a number of cyclo drivers here and so I jump in with Darren and Jada and head to town. They have somewhere booked already so I'm just going to go there and see if they have something available for me. As luck would have it, they do. A fan room all to myself for 300bht, that'll do me. It has easily the largest bed that I have even stayed in, I mean I think it is bigger than a queen size. Massive! After this stroke of luck and convenience I reward myself with a beer and sit out the front of the guest house. Not a sound. A quiet little town, with a market just up the road, but not a noise here. A great change of pace from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. I grab a bite to eat with Darren an Jada in the restaurant beside the guest house before deciding that I am going to get up for sunrise in the historical park. It is walking distance and so I should be able to have it done in a morning. That's the plan anyway. Back in the room at 10 and it is clear that perhaps this room isn't used too much. I had left the fan on when I went out and upon my return my bed is covered in the dust that has been dislodged from the fan. Awww well, better than bugs. Shower, charge camera and bed.
