Hi Peeps!Well on Tuesday we got our bus to Brisbane for a bit we thought we had the wrong day or something as we were the only ones there but it came and we had bubbles and a big huge blow up hand on the bus, fun fun!! We got a taxi to our motel which was pretty cool, two bedrooms and a kitchen. We had a Dominos for dinner, they have a new puff pastry pizza which is amazing, not sure if they have it at home but it is awesome! The next day Kirsty and Andy went shopping for stuff to take home and we sat in and watched the USA election as we didn't want to be depressed at other people shopping and also as we are well interested after being in America. So we are so glad Obama won!! I almost cried several times watching it lol! I spent the majority of the day on the laptop downloading the virus software to fix the laptop which cost me $60!! At night Kirsty and Andy got us a Chinese as it was their last night. We were just about to start when a HUGE cockroach crawled into the living room which Andy killed but they are so big and crunchy it takes an age to kill them, they are so minging. Then Kirsty went into her room and there was one on her door, they are so gross! So then we were paranoid the rest of the night especially Kirsty lol!! At least it stopped her worrying about the flight for a couple of hours - "Can flights take off in the rain?" lol!!The next morning we chummed Kirsty and Andy to the airport. When we got there I had to call the bank as one of my bank cards is not working and the other has nothing in it. I couldn't transfer the money to the other one as it takes three days. I got through to Halifax and they said my account is not set to worldwide, I was raging how can they not know that, I went into the branch and told them several times and if that's not enough I would think it is kind of obvious the amount of withdrawals I have made in 5 countries so far that I am travelling! However it takes 24 hours for them to do this so I was stuck with about $15, Kirsty had to give me money to get back to the hotel from the airport. The money I actually had was in the other account and it was not working which was really annoying so I could only get $20.As if that wasn't bad enough Kirsty and Andy both got charged on their baggage on the internal flight and we have way loads more weight so it looks like we wont be able to fly internally back to Sydney either. It was sad saying bye to Kirsty as we had a good time together and Kirsty got us a nice wee card saying she will miss us and to thank we for my as usual spectacular organisation skills in sorting everything lol, it was really sweet. Craig and I got the train back into town and then realised we had no idea where we were. We had an Indian lunch on Craig's credit card as our new smaller room does not having cooking equipment. Then we found the us back to the hotel. It was so hot this day you could hardly move as it rained all the night before it was really humid. We just chilled out in the hotel paid on credit card again as card still not working. We watched Mr Beans Holiday and Home of the Brave, both quite good. For tea Craig made egg and toast with the egg being boiled in the kettle by pressing it on several times lol, surprisingly it worked quite well! Improvisation in the key when travelling! We called David and Irene who live in Cairns and are Andrew's cousins and we are going to stay with them in a couple of weeks. We also tried to book our Whitsunday's trip but my card was not working still, by this point it was getting really annoying! The next day we had to check out and get back to roughing it in the cheapest hostel beds going, another bad point of Kirsty leaving! We got the bus into Brisbane city centre and it was roasting and even though I have gave Kirsty some of my stuff and my bag has more room somehow it is heavier so was a complete pain to lug about. We got a bit lost and made a wrong turn and found a hostel which wad full so then we had to wonder till we found where we were meant to be which was actually just straight up a road and we had walked round in a huge circle! We got a room in a 13 bed dorm for $28, quite a con, it was a state, the hostels in cities are always horrible as there are people staying in hem who are working and they have just kind of taken over the whole room and bathroom with their stuff as they have been there for so long, the bathroom stunk as well. So we got out of their sharpish and my bank card was still not working and we had pretty much used all the credit card so I had to go and call Alliance and Leicester this time when I eventually got through they too had not set it to worldwide but at least they could set it up straight away but I also have to cal them every 30 days to tell them as they cant set it for a year, as if I have nothing better to do and also as if in the middle of Zambia I will be able to call the bank! Anyway I managed to get some cash out but couldn't take it all out as the travel agent was trying to take some ot for the sailing trip. We had a wonder round Brisbane which is quite a nice city, it has lots of nice shops and isn't as big and dirty as Sydney. We went to the internet and had some lunch and then went to the cinema to see Traitor. The cinema was a lovely old building, really pretty, I'm not sure about the film though as I fell asleep for most of it. I think I have narcolepsy as I seem to fall asleep every time I sit down lately! We had some pasta for dinner which I couldn't eat as the sauce was so strong and then watched Superbad which was quality as usual. I went to bed about 11.30pm and put the light out and was just falling asleep even though there is a club downstairs and I could hear the bass through my earplugs when a girl came in and put the light on and started shouting that she couldn't find her blusher. Then I fell asleep again and at 2.30am someone else came iin and put the light on and started shouting, then again at 4am someone came in and started shouting and then at 5am I got up as our bus was at 6.30pm at the Transit Centre which we had confirmed on the day before on the phone. The bus picked up at our hostel but we told them we would get it at the centre as we never knew we would be staying there so we decided to still go there so that they wouldn't be held up waiting for us if they wet to the centre first. At 7am we saw them go by and Craig went and called them and they had left us. So then we had to decide if we wanted to stay two more days and miss Noosa or pay for the bus ourselves. We wanted to go to Australia Zoo (Steve Irwin's) so we paid the $55 to get to Noosa which we should get back. We got there and the bus centre was no where near anything and the hostel buses that were there were full but we called one and got some beds in one. Its quite nice and quiet and has a free shuttle into town. W had chips on the beach and then went to Coles to get some food for the next few days. At night we realised we didn't not have enough money for the zoo and the cheque has no cleared my account yet and the ravel agent has taken the money for the sailing. So I had to call my dad and get my sister to go to the bank with some cash till it clears. So now after my laptop and camera breaking, both banks not working, the bus leaving us and nearly falling out the door and down steps last night I think with any luck our bad spell is over lol! Sometimes over the last week I have seriously just felt like going home. You forget how easy things are there like just going into the bank branch or staying in eating stuff from the cupboards if you have no money none of which are options here. Anyhoo its all fine now, we watched Monsters Bal and had tea. Last night there was a huge thunder storm and we had to go out to the ATM in it but I have money now yeah!!! The next day we got up and got the free courtesy shuttle bus to Australia Zoo in Beerwah. It was an awesome day out. They showed videos of Steve on the bus there and back. The zoo itself does not have many typical zoo animals but it is better than any other zoo I have been to as you can get so close to all the animals. The Irwins have it this way so people grow attached to animals and want to do more to help them. We fed elephants this morning which was really cool, they feel really hard. We also went to the very famous Crocisium to see a big show with birds, snakes and of course the crocs. It was so cool, one of the birds that was in the show thy just let it out of its cage and then it flies right over to where the show is. We saw otters, snakes, wallabies, tigers playing on their pool with the staff, camels and we went to a wee petting zoo which was meant to be for kids but we loved it you got a wee bag of food and fed all the lambs, goats and sheep and wee pigs they were so cute. We also had our photo taken with a Koala I held it and it was heavier than I thought it would be and the laws really dug into me and it kept pooping but it was good all the same. We also got food and you can just walk about in the kangaroo enclosure and go over to them and feed and pet them, it was so good. The joeys look really funny in the punch all you can see is their legs I don't know how they breathe in there!! It was really good. They have a big memorial for Steve with all the beige shirts all signed and things people have sent in, it's a huge double sided fence and his picture is everywhere. it's a great zoo and a brilliant day out but its also slightly tinged with sadness that someone who had such a zest for life is not around anymore. They have Steve Irwin day now on 15th Nov, it would have been good to go then but I reckon it would have been really sad as I nearly gret the day as it was. We got the shuttle bus back to the hostel and there is an Iranian/Egyptian guy moved into our room and he came out the shower and then asked me "Excuse me my friend do you mind if I make some noise putting on my hairdryer?" said of course it was although he doesn't have any hair so I didn't know what for. Then he proceeded to put it up his towel to dry himself and then he put long johns on. Then I helped him with his English in the book he was reading so he could learn past and present tenses. Nah he is ok just a bit kinda odd!Today we got up and checked out and the woman was well rushing us we were well annoyed and then we got our bus to Rainbow Beach, its really pretty, just a small beach resort . There is a guy in our room from Edinburgh and we were like where? He said Corstorphine, I was like me too!! He worked in the Corrie Inn, and asked if I have ever drank there, I was like sometimes, he must have recognised me or something, we know some of the same people too, how freaky is that?!!Hope you are all well at home. Lots of Love Eva and Craig xxx
