Hi Everyone!!Well where do I start, I feel like we have done so much stuff the last few days! So we left Hervey Bay on our Oz bus and had a trainee driver and a guy who was teaching him who was horrible and impatient with him the whole way there! We arrived at Krombit Cattle Station at lunch time, Oz take you here for a bush type experience for like $45 for meals and board which is pretty good although not an option so you kinda have to pay it lol! We got there and had some steak and salad from the cattle on the farm which was cool and then some people went on horses to round up the goats but we decided to watch our money and go horse riding at home if we ever wanted to. So we just had a swim in their wee pool with some girls off our bus, including two really dense Canadian girls who are worth mentioning for the fact that I have never met people so dumb lol! In the pool I felt something on my back and told Craig I thought I had been stung and when I turned around I had a wasp handing out my back - nice!! It went really swollen but went down quickly so not too bad. After we got changed and jumped in the 4x4 which had beer cans for wing mirrors, two seats, coolboxes doubling as seats, no seat belts, bullets in the back and no cushion in the seats and were taken up to the top of the field to do our goat rodeo but we were not told we were being taken on a wee adventure drive on the way there so he said he would take us through the muddy ditch on the condition that if we got stuck we all had to push and low and behold we got stuck but only for a minute as he was having us on! Then we drove up this huge hill and just as I looked away I felt my stomach drop and I thought we had gone upside down but we were just on a totally steep mud track, very scary!! Next we were shown how to lasso, I was rubbish but Craig was ok at it. Then we did some clay pigeon shooting and I kept forgetting to put my cheek on the gun, I mean it is so not natural to put your face on a firearm not too bothered though as I got 2 out of 5 and Craig got 3 so I cant be too bad. I think I want a gun when I get home, nah not really don't listen kids!! Anyhoo after that it was time to get stuck into our catching a goat, it was pretend to see if you could catch and brand a goat without actually branding it. So we were with Flick from our bus and Craig had to chase the goat round the pen till he caught it with either a back leg or the horns and pull it over to me and then I had to pick it up with its legs to get it lying on its side but it was having none of it and it was bloomin heavy but after it standing on my ankle and getting god knows what all over my legs we got it down and Flick went and got the brand and we were done, I felt really bad doing it but the guy said it doesn't hurt them. They had a nice wee border collie watching and baring at them and as much as I wanted to pet him he was well more interested in working! They put some sprinklers on as well and all the goats were bolting about, it's a wee shame! After all the groups were done they announced the winner and we - The Goat-aseurs were the winners woop woop!! After we went back down to camp where we had a bottle of red wine with the best tea we have had in months, beefs, carrots, peas and tatties with gravy mmmm!! Then it was all back to our bunks to get ready for the nights party which was inside out, this is where you wear your clothes inside out and your underwear over the top of them, hence the dodgy photos lol! After this they told us about the camp and it was actually Scottish people who founded the farm and also that they have so much cattle that when the need to round it up they do so by helicopter, do any of your pals do that Andra?! Next we had a whip cracking lesson which is much more complicated when you think but I was quite good at it once I got a shorter whip. We all had a go on the mechanical bull as well which was good as there was another bus in that was heading south so we had a contest and us on the north bus won again although I cant say I really helped as I was on it about half a second but Craig did one for the team for a good 8 seconds lol! There were loads of beasties here and we saw a huge toad and a big beetle crawled on me and it was a bit minging and a good check under the loo seat was had each time I needed lol!The next day we got on the bus for our 11 hour day to Airlie Beach stopped at The Tropic of Capricorn in Rockhampton where the line cuts through which was pretty cool and really hot! Then we went to try and get something for lunch and I waited 20 mins in McD's and had to leave before I got it as the bus was gonna leave without us, on the way back someone had a sprinkler on the pavement and it sprayed all my bottoms and I couldn't walk in my flIp flops and the ground was too hot to walk without them and I almost lost the plot lol, I was drenched and hungry! We also stopped to have a go at lawn bowls and I wanted to see if I had my Grandad's knack but it was too busy so we just went to the beach at Sarina where they had a kind of kid swim and run competition on or something like that! We finally got to Airllie at about 7pm and all the travel desks were closed so we had no idea what we were doing with our sailing trip the next day! We had a gyros pita for tea which was good and made some calls home and went to bed. Also saw a really nice sunset on our way here which was all pretty above the trees! The next day we got up to call the sailing company, we had to check in at 10am but it didn't leave till 4pm. We booked our hostel again for the way back from sailing and he said it was $2 more than we had paid so I told him i would just book it online and so he gave us it even cheaper than the net price - fathers daughter, this is becoming a very useful phrase here lol! We went and checked in for our trip and paid our reef tax and stinger suit hire and we were meant to have another $280 still to pay but he said we didn't and I know I did so I said are you sure and he said yes so I wasn't going to say anymore, I'm honest but I'm no millionaire. So on the back of our wee save Craig bought his first thing the entire trip I reckon a $15 pair of sunglasses lol and we got some wine and chocolate for the trip. We got on the boat at 4pm which is pretty nice, the bedding wasn't the cleanest but it was a pretty cool tall ship. We had a safety briefing and then about a 20 minute conversation on toilets, "Only the three P's people, pee, poo and paper NOTHING else in the toilets!" and also " if your evil twin sister is visiting girls no wings or strings" and various other niceties that I wont go into lol! We met a nice couple on the boat, Emma and Steve from Manchester so it was nice to have people to chat to as well. We had a few glasses on wine and watched the sunset before tea which was steak and veggies and was amazing! I love the sunsets here, just in case you cant tell from the photos lol, I know they are maybe boring to some people but I don't care its so pretty its hard to describe and I just couldn't stop taking photos, I love it here, by far the best place on the east coast. Then a while later we saw the moon rise which I don't think I have ever seen before so that was pretty cool and I saw three shooting stars, the sky was like a blanket, it was amazing! We had some desert then went to our beds, I'm using that term loosely lol!The next day we got up and had breakfast on deck and sailed to WhitSunday Island and the famous Whitehaven Beach and just as we were about to get off the speedboat a huge stingray swam past us at the shore, not very comforting when you are about to get in the ocean. We all had to wear stinger suits as it is jellyfish season. We have a dive instructor on board so he said he would take us diving if we wanted for $60 so I thought why not as I dont really want to do a PADI course that takes 4 days and costs a fortune but would like a taster. So between our dive briefing the night before and the stinger suits and all the bits of paper saying that if you die they are not responsible, I was feeling quite scared lol! We all had a go with the air on just to see if we could do it at the beach and I was ok and had a wee snorkel but it wasn't very good as it was more the beach we were here for. The beach was lovely, clear water and white sands but I just don't think it is as impressive if you have been to Fiji. Some people went for a walk to a view point but we just relaxed on the beach. Later on we went back on the boat for lunch and sailed to another tiny bay where we got all rigged up for diving. I was in the first group and he kept telling me not to look so worried, I wasn't worried about the breathing thing just the fact that I may run into jaws or something lol! I also didn't tell them about my asthma as I am sure I don't have it anymore and it was very mild when I did and I knew they wouldn't let me if I said so I just kept quiet, Steve has diabetes and kept quiet too, probably not the best idea but Im fine. We got all the gear on and then practised clearing our masks and mouthpieces under water which was fine and then got our weights etc on and practiced all the hand signals and off we went. I was ok, I wasn't that freaked out, I had to keep popping my ears a lot but we saw lots of fish and stroked coral and some clams and stuff which was cool, at one point we were stroking coral and then someone kind of swam into me and I thought I cut my hand on a bit coral but no blood but it was stinging so of course not I was worrying that sharks can smell blood etc lol! One of the girls just seemed to clash into me everywhere we went which was quite annoying as the sea is pretty big and there was only 4 of us and the instructor. It was really good though he kept making sure we were ok and adjusting our air to make us high and low and I quite liked it although it was a bit freaky at times. When we got back up I looked at my wrist and it looked like I had been stung by jaggy nettles and was all blistered and turns out I had been stung by coral which didn't even surprise me as I said before I went in that if something would happen to anyone it would be me and low and behold… anyway its ok now and has cleared up! Just before we went down for dive this foreign girl said something to me about someone I was with and someone saw a shark and I couldn't make her out through the accents, broken English and masks but when we came back it turned out Craig had swam with a black tipped shark. He saw it in the water just before I went diving and freaked out and climbed onto a rock and cut all his hands doing so then when we got back in he saw a huge fish and thought it was it and got a fright again but decided just t brave it and bolt back as if he shouted I would have been petrified and not went diving. It was about 4 feet and the skipper said he was really lucky to see one and that when they over 2 meters they can attack people, well scary!! We got back on the boat and had a few cups of goon and then had some dinner which was roast beef and all the trimmings again tasty!! After tea we had some sweets and threw some bits of food in the sea and there was this massive fish and then a wee while later a shark came, it was just a wee one but a shark all the same. Again we watched a really nice sunset but never saw the moon come up tonight and then had an early night although not before Emma and Steve locked me in the toilet lol! Wazza the skipper also made us anklets tonight for $5 made from rope and shells, very authentic. They had my ipod to use on the boat stereo on and it didn't charge at the same time so my battery is dead and cab le has stopped working, NNNOOOOOO!!! The next day we were up for breakfast and into the sea from the boat if we wanted to swim over to the beach so Craig and I did and the coral and sea life here was amazing, loads of fish that swam right past your face and more nemos!! When we were diving we even had a hand sign for Nemo lol! Craig and I swam back to the boat and when we got near they threw bread in and these huge fish came up and started eating it they were like the size of maybe a foot squared and flat. They were nibbling on our flippers and Craig fed one straight from the hand and petted it lol! They don't bite you but kind of suck on you so I didn't bother lol! We had lunch and sunbathed on the boat the rest of the morning and it was roasting hot, unbearable at times but our tans have had a wee boost. After it was time for some photos and then back to the marina and off the boat. They didn't say anything about the money so turns out we o our whole sailing trip for $159 each, no bad eh?!! We went back to our hostel we stayed at before and dumped our bags in and went to the lagoon for a swim and then had a look about and got some pizza at Cheap Tuesday at Dominoes then had a walk and applied for about a million more jobs in Sydney, people don't seem to answer though which is becoming quite concerning as I have sent my CV about 20 times over the last fortnight an still nothing. We had a walk along the beach at night and then off to bed. Today we had a long lie after all our rubbish sleeps on the boat and then went to the lagoon also Craig says I have to point out I have not had an actual shower with shower gel now since the day we got on the boat, but Im arguing I have been in the sea and lagoon etc so its just a waste of shower gel lol! We saw Emma n Steve at the lagoon and had a chat then had a look in the shops and Craig got his hair cut and we had some lunch. We went to see the pharmacist to see if Craig can get something for his anxiety when flying but I think we need to get our medi-cards first and then he has to go to the doctor. Tomorrow we are heading to Townsvillle and then up to Cairns the next day. Hope your all well at home! Happy Birthday Dad and hope you feel better Aunty Betty!Lots of Love Eva and Craig xxx
