Kia Ora!!So we spent the rest of the day watching tv and recovering and then had too much energy at night to sleep so we took a walk round Lake Taupo. It is really pretty here, the lake is the same size as Singapore and the biggest lake in the southern hemisphere and is surrounded by forests and mountains, very scenic. Today we got up and went to Taupo airport and I jumped out of a plane, yes me!!! Me who doesn't like heights, flying or high edges lol!! It was amazing! I knew I wanted to do one here as I had looked at it at home as its one of the most scenic places and it's the cheapest place to do it. We got a lift to the airport and filled in forms with all my next of kin's details on it, very comforting I have to say. Then I got convinced into jumping from 15,000ft instead of 12,000ft as the freefall lasts an extra 20 seconds. Then I got all kitted out in my red jump suit and harness and really hot shoes, hat and goggles lol! My instructor was John from Brazil and he had done 7,000 jumps although he tried to tell me he had only done 25 which I chose to believe was a joke! We all got in the little plane and sat in front of our instructors straddling a bench, the plane was not as horrible as I thought it would be and the views were very pretty. The air was really lacking in the plane though so I was quite happy to be getting out! I had to sit on my instructors knee while he fastened all my harness to his and then my camera man took lots of film and pictures of me as I had picked my own cameraman instead of the instructor with the camera on his hand option as you got the photos with the other one. At one point the plane totally slowed down and I thought we were going down but it was just turning, phew! At 12,000ft we slowed down to let a girl out who was jumping from there and it was horrible, the air was freezing and she just kind of disappeared! My instructor was really good though he kept talking and stuff so I didn't feel too nervous. At 15,000ft, they opened the door and one of the girls jumped out, then it was my turn, we move to the edge and sat with our feet over the edge and it is so high up you cant even register anything, we were above the clouds so you could hardly see anyway. I had to look to the side to get my photo taken and then he just rocked us back and then forward out of the plane!! It was amazing, you are just falling and spinning all you see is the plane, land, the plane land then you kind of even out and John took me round and round in circles as the as my camera man took photos (yes I know very celeb-like) it was amazing. It was so cold, the insides of your mouth was like furred with frost if you opened it and the pressure and speed made your ears quite sore but you hardly noticed, all you can see is the clouds and feel the wind all around you, it is so awesome! We were holding hands with my camera man and taking loads of photos it was really fun. It almost doesn't feel as if you are falling as you are so high it doesn't look any different as you come down and you are above the clouds. We fell about 10,000ft in one minute and then John pulled the cord and we went flying up with the parachute and the cameraman disappeared below us s he pulls his chute at about 3,000ft. Once the chute was up I could pop my ears and swallow and loosen some of my harness which was nice and we could look at all the pretty views. John let me steer for a while and we looked up and the chute and pulled hard on one side and it was like being on a rollercoaster! Then we came in and landed on my backside in a field with Craig waiting!! Craig paid for it for y birthday as there had been nothing I had really wanted at the time so thank you Craig!!When we got down John and I did our high fives and I thanked him for letting me live then we took more silly photos and went to watch our dvd. T is so cool, its all the jump from the prep to after the landing and I have lots of cool photos too as you can see on the site. The dvd is well funny, my face is all distorted with the wind lol. They were almost as expensive as the jump but you can hardly go and not get them!! I even got a free t-shirt as I did the highest jump. Craig did not fancy it as he hates heights and has his heart of shark cage diving in Capetown instead. They took us back to the hostel and we pottered about doing stuff online and our washing etc and then made mince n tatties for tea and we even found bisto ahhhh!!I am just doing this just now as the hostel had the tv on timer and they all go off at 11.30pm which is a bit annoying if you are not tired so I just thought I would tell you all about my exciting day!!Everyone should go and do a skydive, it is one my best experiences ever, what a high!!Hope you are all good at home!!Lots of LoveEva and Craig xxx
