Today is the Day of remembrance, the British version of Veterans Day. Well, we chose Golden Tours because we knew where the office was. We bought tickets , entered the bus, and sat for a half hour going through the bus terminal. Finally on our way!! We passed Buckingham palace, Hyde park, Marble Arch, the Arab quarter, and Joeys looking in the Windows of the Aston Martin showroom ... Hyde park angel of peace. Time capsule of live and remembrance Trafalgar square and the National gallery Did you know that Michael Caine's original name was Morris Nicholwhite? We passed the theater where he did his first play.

edaghallinan What a whirlwind! I feel like I have whiplash! Interesting comment about recorded tours -- so obvious but never questioned!
TomCagan Try the Evan Evans Tours coach tours. The one to Bath, Windsor Castle, and Stonehenge is marvelous! They have other tours too, but that one is magnificent. We stayed at the Jolly St Ermine hotel, a short block from the rotating diamond shaped sign of New Scotland Yard. Charming place with a positively claustrophobic elevator. _\m/ Tom
Vicki Komer The first day we actually walked to end near the new Scotland Yard building where a very friendly bobby suggested that we clear out of the area as quickly as possible since that's where the student riots were going to be held in about an hours time from when we were there. (We arrived on guy Fawkes day. )I hope the hotel you stayed at was not damaged during the riots.
Bob Latter Vicki So glad you are having a good time. The unbelievable strength of the US$ must help a little with your enjoyment as well. I have a couple of suggestions that might help. First, they call it Hop On, Hop Off for a reason. You can get off and spend time anywhere you like. Also, a little camera with a built-in GPS would solve the problem of knowing where you took pictures. If you don't want to buy one, just take pictures with your phone of the same things. Your photos app will position each picture on a map for you.
Vicki Komer Thank you Bob .... What I prefer to do is take the ho-ho bus around a complete circuit the first time, decide what to hop off at the next time. But I was a Popsicle by the time we finished the first circuit, and we went back to the apartment instead. Good thing we did, because with just one circuit, I developed a sore throat and we are staying in until we head for Paris tomorrow. I have to be healthy before we get on the ship for the 29-day cruise!
Judith sound great! will you be going to the big art museums? I'm enjoying your posts. xoJ
