We walked around a bit, tried some local rum at a place called Casa Melaza, came across a wonderful hole in the wall restaurant called Deaverdura while we were heading to el Jibarito (the restaurant we researched for having pasteles), and then walked around some more. We passed an arcade that was dedicated solely to poetry. One of their posters caught my eye. We noticed that there weren't many people on the street - and learned that even though it is low season, many people have heard about the Zika mosquitos and are keeping away. But locals are saying there isn a problem unless a pregnancy is involved. Income and tourism was down even during high season... Back at the hotel, we found that there were many more guests gathered at the first floor bar and music had been ramped up. Looks like other cruisers are coming in!
