Queens County, New York
After a pretty miserable night of sleep, we woke up early and decided to pack up and head back to the airport . Yes, we arrived early, but why sit at the hotel ? So we hung out at the airport and got on a very packed plane and headed home. And Vinny was there to meet us! And he left us home to a huge pile of mail (of course, after 2 1/2 months there would be lots of mail) ... And so ends our adventure!

The Queen Mary 2 is quite lovely! We haven't sailed yet, but the cabin while not spacious is well laid out, and about the same size as our hotel room in New York was. Everyone on this ship is better dressed than probably any of the other ships we have sailed on. Lunch has been uneven: salad ingredients were minimal, but the flourless chocolate cake was divine. We are now off to our muster stations; unpacking; exploring the ship and dinner. Only two others joined ...

Actually, this morning we went to a time share discussion. Yes, silly, I know, but to get a hotel room in NYC for $350 for 3 days, we spent 90 minutes listening to a pitch. (We didn't buy...) but we got out just in time to slide into our seats at the Walter Kerr Theater (my first time in this beautiful small venue) to see A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER. Another wonderful show - shades of Gilbert & Sullivan. The women were exceptional...

After an okay night of sleep (the beds are pretty comfortable but we can hear the traffic too easily from eighth avenue) Joey, Fernando, Jon and I took the train down to Battery Park and the Seaport - areas I never explored when I lived in NYC in the 70s. (A Vinny Verelli hint - if you want to get discount tickets for Broadway shows, don't stand in line at the TKTS booth in Times Square that opens at 2 pm and is FULL of tourists. Take the train down to the Seapor...
