So this morning we had a reservation for the jazz brunch at Court of Two Sisters... the jazz was very nice but too short, and the food was too mayonnaise-y for my taste - and they charged extra for orange juice! The eggs Benedict was good, as well as the ribeye slices and pecan pie. I doubt I would go back.. maybe for a dinner which I hear is better... Did I mention that it rained most of the day? We took a bus tour of the city, including the garden district, the music district, art district and the Katrina damaged 9th ward, that is still only one-third rebuilt. Our tour guide was clever and knowledgeable - and we learned a lot about how Katrina affected not only the city, but him as well. We passed the home of the musician who wrote the song "mother-in-law", and we were told that he got a karmic comeuppance by having been buried in the same crypt with his mother-in-law. And he took us to one of the Catholic above- ground cemeteries and explained how up to 100 family members can be in a family tomb built for two caskets at the same time. This was well worth the price of admission! Dinner: we tried to eat in our hotel but the wait would've been an hour, so we darted across the street to Mr. B's Bistro. And boy are we glad we did! The food was wonderful the ambience lovely, and the waiters were terrific. Joey had a pork chop and I had the braised beef short ribs. Both dishes were so filling we couldn't finish. We went back to the hotel to digest .. yes, we should have gone out to hear music, but ...
