Today the only thing we had scheduled was a tour by an art historian of the Louvre. Good thing we didn't schedule anything else, because after the Louvre, we were exhausted. Joey took some amazing pictures of the ceilings as well as many of the pieces of art that were highlighted for us by our tour guide. I took very few. I must say that the Mona Lisa, while interesting to see, looks like all the pictures that everyone else takes. Our door guide told us the cute story about the Mona Lisa – that it was not popular or a major work of art before 1911, when it was stolen out of the Louvre. It was returned to the Louvre two years later and all the notoriety of the theft and the return of the painting is what caused it to soar in popularity. When the thief was asked why he stole that particular painting, he said it was small enough to fit under his jacket to walk out the door of the Louvre. There were many more expensive pieces of art that were on display at the time. True story? I don't know. Good story, yes. After hours of walking around, we took our uber back to the apartment for a while to rest, and then went out in search of a different restaurant to eat dinner this evening. We wandered a few blocks further than we had in the past, and we passed many restaurants - but Italian called to us again. We chose Ristorante Di Felice. Joey had pasta à la carbonara, and I had a very juicy Seabass filet grilled to perfection, with a side salad. When we reach the apartment again, I looked at my Pacer app, which marks the amount of steps I take each day, and lo- today's steps reached an all-time high for me – almost 12,000 steps. Wow. No wonder my feet hurt. Di Felice
