As I expect you all know by now, there was a terrorist attack on Paris. It was located in the 10th and 11th arrondisments (neighborhoods). Our convention was located in the 19th. I say "was" because Paris is in a state of emergency - all state buildings, museums, etc., are closed. Some metro stops are closed. Last night, we were supposed to go to a "meet up" of LA Hosts in the 10th arrondisment, and because there were two workshops I wanted to attend, we were unable to go - and we have not yet been able to reach anyone who attended that meet up to see if everyone is okay. The last day of the convention - today - was cancelled, as Parisian officials urge everyone to stay home unless urgent. (We were almost out of toilet papers, so we considered that urgent ... : ) and we went to the market and boulangerie. ) So I expect attendees will be sent an email with the revelations of the winners of the various "contests" sponsored by Airbnb, as well as the location of the next Airbnb Open convention. We have been led to believe there are 4 contenders - with Rio and Los Angeles most bandied about... my thinking is that Airbnb is going to rotate continents, so South America, Australia, and Asia have not yet been represented. So. We will probably stay in the balance of today; tomorrow we may stroll a bit so Joey can take pictures. When we have wifi I will check for emails - please use emails whenever possible as texts are charged per text. Also, if you use "group texts" we aree charged separately for each comment/response from each of the group, so please do not group text us! If you have wifi, and have downloaded Viber or What's App apps on a smart phone, and if we also have wifi, the calls will be free - so feel comfortable to call. Just remember that France is 9 hours ahead of LA (and for our family in Honolulu, 12 hours ahead!) so we will be going airplane mode when we go to sleep. Keep safe, our loved ones! Vicki and Joey

voicejeanne Vicki and Joey, so glad you are safe. I got your email last night. and also from Susan. She and I had been on the phone since I was hoping she had heard from you. Your travel blog didn't arrive in my email box until Sat 6:14am. Not sure why it took so long to get here but thought you should know so if people are asking after you sent a blog I think it takes longer than a regular email. Take care of yourself. Love you both. Jeanne
Michele Askori Happy to see you are OK!
Nestor and Jack Gracias a Dios that you are safe!! :-) Keep us informed and be safe. We love you. N.
Vicki Komer Possibly the blog came late because we didn't know it was happening! We were at dinner in an Italian restaurant that had soccer on the TV. Joey's sister sent a text saying "26 dead. are you ok?" and I said "where?" Then at 4 in the morning my phone started dinging and dinging .. I was getting text after email ... and that's when I found out. Joey was sleeping almost through the beeps, but soon I read to him some of the texts so we both knew what was happening. Eventually we went back to sleep, and we've been watching CNN ever since.
voicejeanne That is probably the reason. I was so glad to get your email and Susan's about you before I went to sleep. I wasn't quite sure of your itinerary and hearing you were okay was so good. I hope you can regather and continue on with this amazing journey. This does remind us all what is important. I am blessed to know you Vicki for so many years and now I am also blessed to know Joey. Take care and enjoy the rest of your trip
Henry H. Prayers for all. Just tragic.
