So we did LOADS of culture today. No muggings though which made it slightly more dull.
We started off in La Rambla and did some peruzing (being very wary of our bags after yesterday´s exciting happenings) and then i said "look B there´s the market" so we went in and found that it wasn´t the market, but a massive church. With part of it being used for praying and stuff. There was a priest doing his thing in one of the side sections but people were mingling round the rest so we did some sitting for a bit becuase it was soo totally spiritual. Then we had a look around and took pictures of the mosiacs. Barthelona seems to be all about the mosiacs.
So after that we did some more peruzing and looked at some caged animals such as rabbits and bunnies and birds and chicks and hampsters and tortoisis. Then we saw a picture of a Pained Looking Lady and went into the building only to find it was an art gallery. Full o´culture. So we went into an exhibition called INGRID which was free. But actually it wasn´t they just didn´t ask us to pay and we only realised later. So that was good. There were 3 parts to it. The first part was a massive room with a couch and loads of pictures on the wall of this lady (the same lady featured throughout) in all different styles with all different expressions and emotions and stuff. It had nosies in the ceilings too, like the noise of a croud all talking. Kind of surreal. Then the next bit was a video of a man joke-painting a painting in stages kind of sped up. With a silly hat on. B says it´s called Stop Motion. Then the final painting was next to it and it was really good. Bit quirky. The whole thing was quirky. Then there was a little dark room full of screans you can flick through of very sad and sometimes disturbing pictures. Like people having sex on a shelf. And people killing themselves in baths. The final bit was horrible. It was this piece of apparatus with string on it, and a screan suspended in the middle of a lady (the same lady) swinging from this apparatus in a croud of people all cheering and pushing her and pulling the string so her arms raised. And she was being supported by her skin. There were these hooks that she was on. Just hanging from them. It was horrible but mesmorising.
Then we had some very average lunch for a very high price but a cheery fat man waited on us and he looked like the one from Jurassic Park.
After this we peruzed some more back up the Rambla and bought some braclits and then felt lame. Then we got the number 24 bus (the one I got mugged on) to Gaudi´s house. Casa Gaudi. And did some queueing which was made better by a man playing the steele drums. So we danced to that for a while. And considered buying his CD if we weren´t poor. Well I did, B didn´t really.
Then when were in the house we looked round his appartment and then on the roof. That was pretty good. We took lots of pictures. And in the bit just before the roof in the rafter bits there was music playing and I felt like a Jew becuase it sounded like Jewish music. So we looked round there and felt cultural and like we were furthering ourselfs.
After that we walked all the way home and on the bit where there are loads of designer shops like Hermes and Chanel we went into Hermes to look at the scarfs and becuase we are dressed like Poor Travellers they followed us around becuase they thought we would steal. Becuase of this we decided against taking a scarf.
(Joking)
Then we came back and had a nap. And there´s a man in the room next to us who´s a bit wierd and took his clothes off and walked through our room to the shower. That was not pleasant. You have to walk through our room to get to the shower. He didn´t just parade through to show us.
Now we´re just off to get some eggs and some playing cards becuase we realised, school boy error, we don´t have any.
Also, another observation about our yoof hostel... when the metro goes under it the whole building shakes. Its pretty exciting really.
Over and out sports fans.
