PANIC OVER SPORTS FANS!! The long await is over, we have crossed boarders, dodged hairy men on push bikes and even briefly considered showering in the last few days and now all shall be revealed about our whereabouts!!
So a couple of days ago (i dont know when, the days are blurred... today we found out it was thursday after thinking it was wednesday so weve already lost a day... and also sorry granny about the bad punctuation, were on a french keyboard which is very confusing so worry not, i still have a basic grasp of grammer) in Barcelona, 4 nights to be exact we moved to Beziers.
I expect you all to now look up Beziers on google images. Scienic, non? So thats where we were. For 3 nights. And we did lots of peruzing and stuff. We tried to go to a vineyard, found it on the map, found the right bus, then spent about half an hour on the bus only to arrive back in Beziers, much to our confusion. Turns out we went round the route and forgot to get off. How embarrassing. So we went round again and the bus man very kindly told us (en francais) where it was so we got off and had a peruze but, silly us, we arrived at 2. And the french being lazy so and sos eat mange and nap in the best hours of the day so it was shut. Then we realised that twas not a vineyard with vines and stuff; it was a winz shop. So that was naff. We didnt even stay around for it to open again. We hopped back on the bus and it was the same bus man and Im pretty sure he was mocking us en francais but Im not good enough for sarcasm yet. Though I am pretty good, I can ask for everything we need and book rooms and today I even engaged in a little french humour. Bon.
So after the tragic bus experience we had a uncomfortable/comfortable night in the hostel. I was comfy because I like soft beds but B - we were sharing a bed in this place - doesnt and so she was not a fan. But the room was just dahhhling, broken and decrepid but noice. The plaster was falling off the walls and you pretty much had to kick the door to get it open, and the shutters were hanging on by about 1 rusty screw each; but it was spiffy. Cheap too. Bon. And each morning we dined on croissants and fraise jam and coffee and chocolat chaud. And sugar lumps for me.
The second day we went to the beach which was boardering on one of the worst Beach Experiences ever. Awsome beach; empty, white sand, blue sea bla bla bla but COR was there a wind!! Was there heck. We were pelted with sand so hard we were red and grainy. And it actually hurt. And we lost of recently purchessed beach mat in the gale too. Sad times. We had an average lunch served by a complete toff which was an over priced salad with fancy ham. So after I repeated that I was une vegetarien he picked off the ham and reserved. So we all felt better. No, no we didnt. So then we got the bus back and had showers. I even brushed my hair for the first time since arrival.
So yesterday we moved on to here; Montpellier. A university town, very hip hop happenin'. Much hotter here which is nice but also sweaty. Weve been forced to shower since being here. Thats how hot. Yesterday we explored and stuff. And did our washing. That was fun. Now we have clean clothes. Then we had an early nght because we are hardcore like that.
Today we did lots - went to an art museum, the park, peruwed, sat on the tram for 1 hour; lots!! The museum was crap. We thought it would be a good arty one but no, it was like 16th centry oil paintings. I mean yeah its cleaver how they do it and stuff but it really doesnt float my boat at all. Im more into like black and white photography and stuff; I decided that whilst staring at an oil painting of a bore bring torn apart by dogs. Cool. B wasnt really loving it either. So it wasnt because Im uncultured. Anyway I am noa becuase weve done loads of culture.
OH! We also found this mega cool cathedral, Im not really big on religion and stuff but this really was awsome. Though we had to put on more clothes to go in, so and not to be disrespectful. It was nice and cold in there, we were roasting before and B felt a bit sick what with the heat and all. So we spend like nearly an hour in there. Thats probably the longest about of time Ive willingly spent in a church. But it was so cool, it was so big, I took loads of pictures. And glass windows with the sun shining throuhg so it looked like some heavenly calling. Aces. And we sat at the front and talked then we both ended up crying becuase we were talking about funerals and stuff and it must have looked like we were just sitting at the front crying becuase we were In The Zone so much, or maybe becuase we were praying so hard or something. We tried to find ourselfs there but it didnt work. But I read somewhere that even if your not religious you can find yourself in a church. But I didnt. Maybe I will in the one in Rome. Thats a thought to ponder on.
So after that we found loads of views, B loves them; shes all about the views. So I waited while she took a picture from every angle and then we got a french girl to take a picutre of both of us with the view and its a nice picture and we dont really have any nice pictures of both of us; we were discussing it the other day. Only ones with stupid faces. So we got a nice one too now.
We are now meeting Fran in Prague; we are both, but me in particular, conserned about money... youth hostels are around teh 20euro mark and we were expecting and budgeting for them to be around the 10 mark. So obviuosaly things are slightly tight. So she moved her flight so me and b will stay longer before meeting her in the cheaper countries eg Budapest where its like 7 a night as opposed to 20. Then Im not sure how long Ill be able to stay after we meet Fran; but weve thought of a route if I am super poor... well do Prague once weve met Fran on the 29th, then Berlin and then Amsterdamn then Ill head back to Paris and euro star home and B and Fran will carry on for the final week or so. This is obviously only if I run out of money. I must be frugal.
Umm I think thats pretty much all. This thing is really a bit of a stream of consciousness. I read one of those once in a horribly thick book. Oddessy I think, something like that. I certainly would not reccomend it. Anyway I hope it has fill yall in on our happenings.
Were having an awsome time, feeling pretty free and easy, though at times its hard not to miss home. And free food. And laundry service on tap. Apart from that its a hoot, this travelling malarky!! We havent been going out in the evenings or anything, neither of us are that fussed and would rather spend the time awake during the day and seeing stuff. Plus hungover in the heat is the worst. But mainly its the expense, were trying to stay as long as possible so it seems like a bit of a waste. How lame does that sound?!!
We havent really met any super cool people yet either; everyone in our dorms and youth hostels so far havent really seemed very sociable so its quite hard. Plus what with the language barriers. Though as I have previously state, I am awsome at le francais.
So for now; over and out. We are currently scouring the internet... I booked a youth hostel for tomorrow night and forgot to write down where it is. And we just typed in the name of it; turns out its a chain all across Europe. So somehow we have to work out which one. To be honest Bs doing that, Ive been doing this. Its all good.
Goodbye fans; until we meet again at a hopefully free internet booth.
