So its been a while since Ive managed to update my blog. I do apologise, I am safe and well. Had a few money troubles by the end of America so had no money for food or internet on my last day!
Since my last update, I have done lots and lots. I can now claim that I have been to all 3 deserts in the US of A. The Sonoran Desert, Desert where Las Vegas is and the other one in Death Valley (I can't remember the last 2, they had posh names I think!)
The weather has been slightly extreme, we had snow in the Grand Canyon...so not prepared for that, but it was amasing watching the sunset with the snow and some awesome cloud cover. It did't get much better camping wise until Death Valley when we started getting nearer the coast.
Las Vegas was definetly a highlight of the trek. Of course I did some gambling...I won a bit and lost some money but it was all good fun. We got a limo down the strip which was awesome and drank cheap champagne, watched a light show and spent $17 on 2 shots of tequila (never again am I buying shots in the Venetian casino!). That was certainly one of the best nights of the trip.
Went to Death Valley after and ended back in Los Angeles to the Bush fires which have gone crazy. We weren't too badly affected by them except when they decided to close most of the highways which we wanted to take. It took us a while to get bk to the hotel.
Those that didn't get flights that night stayed in the hotel and we went for a bar meal which meant I spent the rest of my money not thinking I still had a full day ahead! oops. It was great to have a room to myself, have a luxurious bath and prepare for my flight to Fiji the next day.
My final day in LA was spent waiting around for my flight. I took a walk to El Segundo beach which wasnt the prettiest and lauged at 3 surfers that were attempting to surf the smallest waves that broke straight onto the beach. I got to the airport super early and got all checked in.
I had no idea that this flight was going to be 10.5hrs long and all overnight. Having hardly eaten I boarded the plane wondering what was on offer...thank goodness for "late night snacks" on air pacific. I was lucky enough also to be sat next to probably the fattest man on the plane!! was definetely interesting trying to sleep with him snoring and taking that little bit too much room. Never mind its all part of the fun of travelling.
I was definetely glad to get off the plane to a sunrise in fiji which I will never forget and a blast of humidity as I got off...this is at 5am aswell, nowhere near midday. oh yeah and i lost a day! I left LA on the 16th and arrived in Fiji on the 18th. Thanks for the message Tammy, most appreciated it. Just think what I have missed out on in that whole 24hrs!!!!!
After getting my bags and everything headed for the door not before I was persuaded into going into a travel agent to see what I could do in Fiji...2hours later I walk out with a boat trip to the Yasawa islands, 4 nights accommodation booked and a bus ride to my accommodation for the next 2 days! I think it was quite a bargain...we'll have to see. I feel alot happier now that I know what Im doing though, gives that little peace of mind!
I arrived just before my checkin time at the Beachouse resort and was welcomed with open arms...free breakfast and coffee in the most stunning setting I have ever seen. a reef break hammocks in the trees right by the beach. It is so much more than I imagined!
Wishing you were all here with me. Haven't managed to upload any photos yet but hopefully in NZ will be better. Time is quickly passing, I can't believe I will be in NZ next week!!!
Anyway sorry for not updating so frequently. I think Ive been pretty vague about America, but I have touched on the most important aspects.
Im missing you all tonnes and thanks for all the mssages!
Ill keep you all updated, lots of love hugs and kisses! xxxxxxxxx
