So it's been a bit of a quiet patch, finding resonably priced internet has been a job of work. So this will be a bit of a highlights package.
So first day we checked in to the Oktoberfest tour in London and set off for the 15 hour drive to Munich. Only when we hit Dover for the ferry we found we had a two hour delay because the French were on strike. So 17 hours. Then when the ferry made it to Calais another hour delay because all the ferries between them had 1 dock because of the congestion the earlier delays caused - 18 hours. At least we had nice comfy coaches though. People who were travelling with PP Travel were already booking planes and trains back because their buses leaked!
So we got in, at like 10 am and headed straight to the carnival. It was so much more family friendly than i expected with rollercoasters and everything.
There were 3 main beerhall rules. If you don;t have a seat they don't serve you, no moving from 1 section to another if you already have drinks and no dancing on the tables. Dancing on the chairs is fine but NOT on the table.
The camp grounds were pretty good and the staff kept them nice and clean it was just freezing cold! I have a camping quick dry towels and it was so damp and cold that it never managed to dry. Thank goodness for a good sleeping bag and my silk sleeping bag liner and thermals to wear it was the only way i managed to be warm at all.
Met lots of people Aussies, Kiwis, Canadians, Dutch, Italians and Germans. It was lots of fun.
London highlights include the British Museum, National Portrait Gallery, Les Miserable, Westfield Shopping centre, The london Bridge and Tombs Experience, Oxford street, and tonight will see Jersey Boys.
Westfield shopping centre is HUGE, I was there for like 3 hours and saw maybe a third. The Tombs was terrifying, it won an award for UK's scariest attraction, it beat London Dungeon, and i so agree with that.
