Emma's Travels
Okay I have just waited 40 mins to try and upload some photos of Shona and I swimming and snorkelling in the great barrier reef today to no avail. I shall try again in a few days time. As a result this shall be brief as I'm being charged a fortune.
On Tuesday Shona and I went on a day trip up to Cape Tribulation to see the rainforest. We started off the day by visiting Mossman Gorge which had beautiful plants and as you can imagine a picturesque gorge. Next up we went on a crocodile cruise and got up close and personal with the crocodiles and snakes. Should have some good photos once we upload those too. We were treated to a big buffet lunch in a painters garden then it was onto the Daintree Rainforest where they have the oldest plants in the world. It was incredible how dark it was inside and yet the sun was beating down on us. Final stop of the day was up to Cape Tribulation, this is the only place on earth where the rainforest and reef actually meet. There is also a beautiful beach there and we had afternoon tea before heading back home.
Today we spent the morning and afternoon at the great barrier reef. First stop was at Michealamas and then the second at Hastings Bay. It was honestly one of the most amazing experiences of my life. And yes, I did see a few nemo's. You just swam past all these colourful fish and coral and they didn't blink. I also got to hold some weird, orange, spongey cucmber like coral plant thing (no idea of the name) under water, and I have a photo to prove it it if I can ever upload them.
You'll be pleased to know that weather is pleasant for their winter. Its been about 27 degrees over the past few days. Of course the further south that we go it is going to get colder, but hopefully I'll have a little bit of a tan when I come home.
