I woke up after my first night of being lulled to sleep by the waves to people chatting away in Fijian, I opened my eyes and through the window ahead of me i could see the sun rising creating bright luminous orange lines across the sky-it was so beautiful-it was also 6.30am so i forced myself to go back to sleep but the Fijian conversation outisde sounded so interesting despite not being able to understand a word of it. Suddenly just as i am starting to doze off someone bangs on our door so loudly. The room groans and Fred gets out of bed (being the man) to see what is happening! A protective manly thing that carried on the rest of the trip-a spider story will soon be told) Nessy comes into the room and walks along lifting up all of our beds and telling us to 'get out beds, the sharks need feeding!' so i got out of bed and crawled out from beneath my mosquito net. Everyone else was asleep still. I went and had breakfast which consisted of doughnuts and cake-afternoon to came early! Doughnuts=incredible in the morning must introduce this concept at home! We all piled into a speed boat after being told that the shark feeding involves us actually getting into the water! The boat ride turned out to be long and incredibly bumpy! We were pushed to the end of the boat and with every wave our bottoms flew up 1m!Hannah took a while to recover! We also got absolutely drenched-so much for clothes and every now and then stopped so Nessy called light a damp cigarette! We arrived at a clear clearing in the middle of the sea having just passed the island where Castaway was filmed (everything became so much more dramatic after this) and all piled into the water equipped with snorkels-no shark food though-starting to get anxious! We swim over to the clearing and look down to see 5 or so 5ft over sharks swimming around on the sea floor! Apparently they are friendly sharks which doesn't quite sound right! It turns out they are friendly in that they don't swim towards you...you swim down to them....very absurd!I unfortunately didn't make it down as i couldn't equalise!shame though Fred 'the man' touched one! Nessy swam down and stayed down for an unbelievably long time-do Fijians have gills and fed the sharks fish. My snorkel decided to break down on me and i got stuck over some coral wearing no flippers due to lack of the latter so i cut my foot-treaded water for a while with a wonky snorkel on my head...drwoning crossed my mind but only briefly as i was literally surrounded by people-didn't consider the sharks because they are friendly! Luckily Bins came and saved me and held me in the water to i could put my snorkel on!I kept hoping that Tom HAnks would pop out of the water and save me but Bins was very helpful-I think she could tell i was panicking!Snorkel still didn't work so i swam back to the boat and the drive r hauled me into the boat by my armpits and dropped me in the boat as if i was a wet fish he had caught-i felt like one- a very heavy one because he was breathing heavily! He did something with some sting and Voila!Got back in and snorkelled some more then we all piled back into the boat and drove back to the beach! It was an incredible experience! In the afternoon Pip arrived, it was so great to see her and we played some volleyball with Nick and Phil, two guys we met on the ilsand who were very funny! Later on in the afternoon we all went and watched a Fijian rugby game on Waya little ilsand- Fred played for a bit, Tans umpired and i ate oreos and crisps with everyone elso on the sideline-can't complain! In the evening we had supper and played card games. Pip and Nessy did some card tricks and Nessy did a cigarette trick which involves putting a lit cigarette in your mouth-fijian men-peculiar! I tried some Fijian gold beer- 'the sportsmans drink' and gradually got used to the sound of Nessy's very unnique laugh! Had a really random though very amusing conversation with Nick and then went to bed.
