Party time! Today was the day of Jess' annual Christmas BBQ/get together which was the reason why I had actually booked my ticket to Sydney prior to me leaving for Australia. I met Jo for the first time who is Jess' best friend and she is lovely. We had lots of chats about New Zealand as she has been there recently and she said she'll give me some recommendations for hostels when I go there.
Guests started around 1pm and so a day of drinking, eating, laughing and chatting commenced. Jess' friends are all really lovely and welcoming. There was a slight issue with lunch in that the turkey was ready but there were SO many vegetables that they hadn't cooked. So we left them in the oven for a bit longer which resulted in a dried out turkey and still undercooked veg. But no matter, it was still very tasty! A few of the guests had brought some amazing cakes as well so we devoured those after dinner along with some more wine, and I chewed the ear off Jo about life and travels.
People came and went throughout the day and there were a few left in the late hours so we decided to get in the spa. Except the spa felt bitterly cold. So we whacked up the heat and waited patiently for it to warm up. After about an hour myself and Nathan decided it might be warm if we get in, but we soon realised that we were very incorrect. Standing our ground and refusing to get out we managed to convince the others that it was actually warmer in than out, something they berated us for quickly after getting in.
We fared in the cold spa for about 2 hours chatting and swapping stories but wrinkled, defeated and feeling sluggish from all the food and wine, we decided we'd had enough and retired to bed after a hot shower and steaming mug of tea.
