Woke up at 10:30am with Jess bringing me a nice cuppa tea. What a doll. We had some long overdue (and sober!) chats and then headed off to Rose Bay for SUPboarding (Stand Up Paddle) with Jess' dragon boat team. We sadly arrived too late but just in time for lunch, so not too bad of a result! Stayed for about an hour letting the sun sweat out the alcohol from yesterday and watching some dogs playing on the beach, before setting off again towards Balmoral (the closest beach to the house). I got my first glimpse of the city, the Bridge and the Opera House which is no less magnificent than I remembered.
We hired the paddle boards and were just becoming accustomed to the unnatural stance when Jo arrived and put us both to shame. We realised that if we knelt and paddled out towards the boats and then turned the board round and stood up, the waves assisted greatly in getting us back to shore. It was really hard work but hilarious. It was so windy and made my legs ache! I was terrible at it, but the only one who didn't fall in (swoon).
We then went to the U shaped pier, the start and end of which were on the beach, and there was a shark net in the water creating a sort of swimming bath. After a bit of encouragement I finally managed to hurl myself off the pier and into the water! We got a bit chilly after a while so Jess and I went home and got in the spa (now a temperate 35 degrees) and drunk some tea before being made cheese toasties by Ken. Watched a programme about penguins and then went to bed!
