Em Goes Exploring
Continuing our attempt to chill out after Cape Town, we proceeded our trip by heading east from Oudtshoorn to Wilderness.
We spent a night at Fairy Knowe backpackers, which was idyllic. Situated off a river, Fairy Knowe was set in amongst the mountain river valley, with lots of trees and plants, reminding me very much of an English garden. We spent the evening relaxing and the following day visting the waterfalls. We peacefully canoed up the river, spotting brown-headed (very rare apparently) and blue Kingfisher's, before taking death-defying walk through the wilderness - walking over water pipes and very dodgy angled walkways on the edge of mountain faces! The danger was worth it to reach the beautiful waterfalls. On the way back, we were also lucky enough to follow a female Bushbuck (like a small deer) for a fair distance along the path without disturbing it.
By 4pm, we were back on the Baz Bus to head to Jeffery's Bay.
Love Em x
