Stuck in La Paz ...
Today is my first day of independent travelling, and already my plans have been thwarted! I was intending to go to Coroico tomorrow, an idyllic-sounding town in the Yungas not far from La Paz. It sounds like the perfect place to do some walking and relaxing. However, the road from La Paz to Coroico has been blockaded (if that´s a word) by some coca farmers - I´m not sure what they´re protesting about, I´ll have to Google it.
Arrived in La Paz the day before yesterday and yesterday went on a tour - we spent the morning climbing a mountain beginning with ´ch´ - chatacunga? (I´ll have to look it up) and in the afternoon we visited the Valle de la luna (Moon Valley), where there are some weird and wonderful rock formations.
Today was a little more aimless, although I did visit the witches market, where the ´witches´ sell all sorts of weird and wonderful cures (including dried llama foetuses - not sure what ills they are supposed to remedy) and the Coca museum, which was pretty interesting. I´m also speaking a bit more Spanish now, having spent the last month speaking just English ...
What to do tomorrow ...?
