In Puno; just got back from a trip across Lake Titicaca (I had no idea it was so big) to Amantani Island, where we stayed with some local families. On the way we stopped off at the Uros floating islands, which are made of reeds. We had a very touristy demonstration of how the islands were built and how the people live today - it was a bit artificial but still interesting. The family homestay on Amantani island was an experience. It was very basic, but our family was very welcoming (I´m now a bit sick of rice and potatoes though). It was also very, very cold. I don´t think I´ve ever worn so many clothes at once in my life! In the evening we were invited to a fiesta and had to wear the traditional local dress. In spite of my reservations the dancing was great fun!
Tomorrow we leave for La Paz via Copacabana (my final destination with the tour) ...
