Sorry its taken a while to get this blog on, been very very busy since arriving in Oz, we've been here over 2 weeks now but it feels like forever!! We staying in Cairns which is at the top of the east coast and the hottest place in Oz at the moment! Weather is gorgeous around the 30s every day but gets very chilly in the evening.
Starting off with the good news me and Dean have now both got jobs, after arriving in Cairns we was told how hard it was to find work here, but Dean proved them wrong and after 3 days found a job working in a car rental place, the owners are lovely and treat him really well and it is only 3 minutes from the hostel we are staying at! I was seriously considering being a lady of leisure and was enjoying my days down at the swimming lagoon, when I finally got a call for a interview down at a restaurant called the wildfire its very nice and serves all local fish, I start on Monday 20th and am quite nervous actually as it feels like I haven't worked for so long!!
Me and Dean have also been doing some casual work for the past 3 days at the cairns Funfair (can you imagine me on a fairground...roll up roll up!!) I was working on the deal or no deal stall (nan you would of loved it!) it was really really tiring 12 hours days on your feet all day in the sunlight but what a experience and its just another wacky job we can add to the list of things!
On the 2nd day at the fair the local Cairns paper was there and they interviewed me and my friend Hannah, next day we was in the paper picture and interview, then the following day a whole write up on us ha ha!! I'm a celebrity here already! two little kids came up to me and said "your the girl from the fair goodluck with your travels!".
Enough of work, things me and Dean have been up to....Well we went to the amazing great barrier reef, it was truly amazing and was my best day yet travelling!! We got a boast at 8am in the morning we travelled out for about a hour and then stopped at the first reef which was the Saxon reef, it was stunning all the different colours from the reef was fantastic, i was pretty scared about getting in the water (with my phobia of sharks and all!) but as soon as I got in the water all the fear went. The only way I can describe it its like jumping into a giant fish bowl, the coral reef was beautiful.
We was really lucky and saw a turtle and a shark, I have to say it wasn't as bad a s I thought!! It went so quickly though dean was tugging at my arm to look, and when I look down there was a grey tipped reef shark swimming underneath us!!
At the second reef we visited we saw a massive fish bigger then me, I don't know the actual name but all the boat staff called him wally his very tame and is always at the exact spot everyday as they feed him prawns.
after just over 3 hours at the reef we was very tired, the boat ride back was excellent not only did they provide us with a Aussie BBQ lunch but cheese and wine and some live entertainment with a Man and his guitar!!lol
Such a excellent day as you can all probably see from the pics.
Just to keep you all updated with our travel plans we are currently in Cairns planning to stay here until the end of August, we will then move down the east coast to Moolabah which is where Deans Uncle Ian lives, were very excited about seeing him and Annette and Chenise but cant bear to move yet until the weather is better there.
Will update you all soon.
Lots of Love
Em and Dean xxx
