After arriving in crazy Bangkok from Chaing Mai, we decided to get the first bus out of there! Were both not that keen on it as its very hectic and crazy nothing like Chaing Mai.
We got the 7pm bus and travelled 10 hours to Surat Thani which is down in the south of Thailand. We then caught the ferry over to the island Koh Phangan which was 2 hours. We was exhausted after 24 hours on buses and boats travelling down from the north to south! And didn't look at our bests!!
We arrived at where we was staying and was pleasantly surprise a lovely little beach bungalow on the beach, with hammocks on each coconut tree. We are staying on the quiet side of the island and because it isn't high season here it is very quiet! Were quite happy with this, playing cards with a bottle of wine and candles sitting at the front of our beach hut is just what the doctor ordered after all of that traveling!
That evening we decided to explore abit, we found a bar had a few chang beers and got talking to the owner who recommended all of the best beaches to visit. With that in mind we headed home to catch some sleep before tomorrow, deciding we would get up nice and early and catch the sunrise over the beach!
Well the sunrise never did happen! We slept in till 7.30am still knackered from all the travelling. After the chat with the locals the night before we headed to Thong Nai Pan Yai, one of Koh Phangans most famous beaches. Now before you have a heart attack mum we rented a scooter to get around, its so hard to get around otherwise! But don't worry I had my helmet on the whole time!(not like in Spain!)
We arrived at Nai pan Yai, and it was breath taking, a long stretch of pure white sand, crystal green waters and a few long tail boats bobbing in the water. Also it was just me and dean and 2 other people on the beach which made it feel very secluded!
Its surrounded by the Kao Raa mountains and is simply a tropical island paradise. We spent the day sunbathing, and went kayaking to explore the shoreline. On the way home we stopped to feed a baby elephant bananas which was very cool!.
A little funny story... i thought it was me and Deans year anniversary on Sunday the 21st of June, I had no card or pressie and didn't really know what to do so being little old romantic me I collected a glass bottle and planned to write a slushy letter, then put it in the bottle and place it just outside our beach hut so it looked like it had been washed up.
However Saturday the 20th I woke up to Dean wishing me a happy anniversary! I got the wrong day!
Oh well its the thought that counts.......
However on our anniversary we had a lovely day, we rented a scooter and went to Hat Rin (home of the legendary full moon party's) the beach was lovely. We explored the town and then headed back to our beach hut where we spent the afternoon lazing in hammocks, Dean played some footie on the beach and I attempted to play volleyball!(badly!) That evening we sent of to Thong Sala to watch the sunset, we sat on some rocks and watched the sun come down very romantic! After that we went to a pub called the masons, which was very random, a traditional English boozer in the middle of a island!! However food was excellent (2 rounds of pie mash and gravy, yum!)
That evening we drank beers and played cards a perfect ending to a perfect day!
The next couple of days we chilled out alot on the beaches and watched lots of films at night, the place where were staying has a cinema like screen in the eating area.
On Monday the 22nd we went to the black moon party which was very very cool! We didn't really know what to expect but when we arrived we wasn't disappointed! The entrance was full of food stalls and massive black canvases with hundreds of glow in the dark paintings, which you could get painted onto your body. The beach was deced out with drink stalls and lots of glow in the dark decorations. Lots of people were sitting down just chilling, whilst others dancing to the very heavy trance music! Me and Dean ordered a bucket of sangsom and coke which consisted of a bottle of sangsom whiskey and a top up of coke! We was well on our way! We saw lots of crazy things that night, which I will not mention! All in all though it was a fab night, we was spent partying under the stars, were so glad we experienced it!
We leave for Koh Samui on the 25th of June so our blog ends here. We've updated all our pics of Koh Phangan, hope you enjoy x
We will speak to you all after Koh Samui.
Miss you all, Lots of Love
