Carlos & Emma The Great Escape
Well we had a good but fairly lazy time in Chaing Mai, I think we'd done most of the trips that they had earlier on. We went to the Muay Thai boxing and Carlos won a bit of money, we were sitting next to this English guy who was filming all the fights. Apparently he works for a Muay Thai club where he films all the fights and plays them back for training purposes, there were a couple of guys from his club fighting so Carlos put some money down and won both times.
We went to the Long Neck Village, the females start wearing the rings at 5 years old. They start off with 5 rings and the maximum that they can wear is 24, they let us have a feel, they are so heavy, Carlos tried to sell me but I don't think they understood.
We had a go at White Water Rafting, this is the best thing that we've done so far apart from when I fell in. We went down the 1st rapid fine, it was a grade 3 and a couple of the women in the other boat fell in and decided not to continue, we went down to the next rapid, the only grade 4 that we were to do, you all have to line up and go down 1 at a time, we were at the top just before we headed down and for some reason I just fell in and headed down the rapid, I tried to remember what they had said in practise, lie back and float until someone gets you, I looked at the guides and they were yelling 'SWIM' I tried to but the current was so strong and I was bashing into all the rocks, one of the guides jumped in and I saw him on top of a rock, at this point I was still trying to save the paddle but I had to drop it and just swam for it, it must of only of been 20-25 meters but it was the hardest swim ever, especially with a lifejacket on. It was such an adrenlin rush though and can't wait to do it again.
We went clubbing on the Saturday night here, God the Thai's know how to party, NOT. We went to this club which was more like a pole dancing club with the dancers on valium, we went to get a drink but they were so expensive we spent most of th enight popping into another bar and smuggling the drinks back in. We were trying to dance with the Thai's but they had this glazed look on their faces constantly, the podium dancers had a break so Carlos and I decided to have a go, I'd like to add that Carlos fell getting on, nicely done!!! We were giving it everything but still nothing, we decided we were in a really bad zombie film and left, most dissappointing.
We are taking the overnight train down to Bangkok where we are heading straight to Pattaya for some nightlife, then we are off to a nearby island for some rest and relaxation before we fly to Vietnam on the 24th. Ill be in touch once we are there.
Lots of Love
Emma & Carlos xxxx
