As soon as we got into Botswana, we headed straight out into Chobe National Park, we had one of those cool 4 wheel drive safari cars, the driver was a bit of a maniac though, he nearly drove straight into the elephants!!. Saw loads of hippos, which unusally they were all out of the water, usually they like to stay in the water because of the sun. there were loads of elephants as well, even some baby ones! got to see some giraffe, warthogs (pumbas!!) and some empalas as well. After the game drive and 2 flat tyres later!!! we managed to make it to our boat cruise down the chobe river, saw some crocs, elephants, hippos and the sunset was good!
We moved through Botswana into the Okavango Deltawhere we did an overnight camp with some local bushmen, we had a 2 hjour drive to get to them, then they took us out on their Macoros, which are like 2 man canoes, where there is someone at the back doing the punting. when we got into the Delta they took us on what seemed like a 6 hour hoke in the midday sun (it was more like a 3 hour walk though!!) they took us down to the hippo pool, where we got to see all of the hippos, and a few baby hippos as well. They also showed us a new giraffe carcas, which had been killed by lions, you could still see all of the lion scratch marks on the back of the giraffe. next day we had an early morning bush walk, where we saw an elephant carcus, then went back to our campsite out of the bush!. we got back on Valentines day, we all went out for a group meal at the hotel we were staying out, which turned out to be quite a good night! we got given bottles of free champagne by the owners coz we managed to get everybody up and dancing! lol
Tsodilo Hills was the next stop, where we did a bush camp, so that we could see the rock painting on the hills, they were apparently 80,000 years old, we had a guide to take us round, who was one of the local bushman, he was very informative, everything we asked him he had the same respones, apparently the rock paitings were made by god, and they were white and red because god made them like that!!! the walk was good though, we got to do a bit of rock climbing to get up to the paiting, we got up early as well so we could do it before the sun comes up, so it wasnt as hot!. that was our last day in Botswana........
