the first stope after Cairns was Mission Beach, we stayed at a hostel called the tree house, which was pretty cool, in the middle of no where, with no shops, but still fun! we only stopped there for the night to break the journey up going to Townsville. we only stayed there for the night again though as we were cathcing the ferry over to Magnetic Island early the next morning. we satyed over on the island foir 3 dyas. there wasnt really much to do over there, we went to Picnic Bay which was the bay closest to us where we could go in the sea as there was a stinger enclosure there. the water looked a bit murkey though but it was so hot i had to go in! we got the ferry back to townsville where we jumped straight onto the bus to Airlie Beach where we spent a few days chilling at the Lagoon we had a few days to wait to catch out boat to go sailing round the Whitsundays.
Our boat was the S.V. Whitehaven we spent 3 days 2 nights on the boat which was really good. there was only 24 people on the boat so was quite spacious! the first stop was Haymen Island where we went snorkelling and saw Nemo again! helen had a bit of a freak out though when she got surrounded by fish! there was about 100 fish all around her as one of the guys thought it would be funny to throw fish food in the water around us! managed to calm her down though and get her back to the boat! lol we spent the night at Haymen island on the boat. the next day we moved to a different spot to go for a morning snorkel, the rest of the day was spent going for a sail round the islands, which was fun, some bits we went through some rough seas which ment we got soaked when the water spalshed on board! we did stop at the whithaven beach though and walked up to the look out point. i think its the best beach ive seen in my entire life, it looks exactly as it does on the postcards, really cool! on the last day we were all up ealry to see the sunrise and for a walk up to an aboriginal cave to see some great aborignal rock art! ! we got back to the marina and Airlie beach, where we went out with everyone from the boat for dinner which was really nice.
we caught the overnight bus that night to Hervey Bay so we had to leave when the clock stroked 12! the 13 hour journey wasnt too bad though went quite quickly. we only stayed in Hervey for one night, as we were going to Fraser Island the next day to do our 3 dya 4x4 driving.
we had a 60clock briefing in the morning where we met the other guys in our car, altogether there were 10 of us, one of which was patrick! who lucy and i met in south africa! after sorting out all the paperwork and a trip to the supermarket to stok up on food we managed to make it to the ferry. the ferry was 45mins over to the island, where we headed staright to the beach, Cornwells, where we stopped to have lunch, and a game of frisbe!
