We got to Sydney at around 8amand checked into Maze which was ok, pretty basic, but was the cheapest in the city, so cant really complain! that day we were suprisingly active consideribng we had the bus journey from hell, with no sleep!, we met up with Fredrik as it was his last day in oz before flying home. We went for a walk down to the harbour and caught our first glimpse of the harbour bridge and the opera house, then headed off into the contemporary art museum for an hour or so which had a few good pieces in. in the afternoon we headed off to the sky tower up to the observation deck, which was 300m high to get some views of the city, we went up there at about 4.30 so we got to see the sunset over the city at 5.
Carlys birthday!!!
the day started with a harbour cruise round circular que down to darling harbour, floowed by lunch and birthday cake, with candles that refused to stay lit!! then we headd over to the harbour bridge but we didnt climb it only went up one of the pylons that are at the end of the bridge, got practically the same view, was still very high up! we had to get back to the hostel quite quickly after that as we were taking carly out for dinner as a suprise. We blindfolded her from the hostel all the way to the restaurant, which was the revolving restaurant up the sky tower, was amazing views of the city at night, think everyone enjoyed themselves, and carly got a bit of a shock as well when we took the blindfold off of her when she was sat down at the table 300m up in the air!! he he dinner was amazing, was an all u can eat buffet, so we all had about 7 courses!! lol
the day after we all slept in quite late, when me and luc eventually got up we managed to make it to government house in the botanical gardens only to find that it was closed for refurbishment, still got to see the gardens which were prettyand took a walk up to Lady Mcquire's chair
We did the opentop bus of the city next, and it was freezing cold!! got a tour of the city which was good, then in the afternoon we caught the bus down to bondi beach, not much to do there thoughso just had ice cream, even though it was freezing! and headed back to the city. that night we had tickets for the opera house to go and see circus oz which was good, the trapeze set was the best bit i think.
Manly was the next stop for the day, caught the ferry over which was nice and relaxing, only took half an hour. the beach was nice as wel a really quiet sea side town and there was great ice cream as well! in the afternoon we made an attempt to go over to the olymic park just to see where it was, however by the time the ferry got there everything was closed really, so we just wanderd around then caught the train back to the city, oh and lucy got us stuck in the lift for a few mins, which was hilarious!.
