We caught the night bus down to melbourne and checked into the melbourne connection backpackers, after a quick power nap we headed off in search of food, we ended up on the tourist tram doing the tourist route of the city which was fun, but the trams were really rammed so u couldnt here any of the commentry round the city. We made it to the queen victoria market which was huge had loads of fresh veg, fruit and meat. so we got dinner for the night at a bargain price as well!
next day we all got up to do the bus tour of the city. we stopped off in federation square to go to the motion picture museum which was cool had loads of animation clips and a games room full of different animated games. We got back to go to Fitzroy gardens to go and see Captain cooks cottage that he built for his parents, and th mini tudor village along with the fairy tree, which was actually a stump!
Another early start followed as we headed over to the Arts centre for the sunday markets which was cool had all the art crafy things, then in the afternoon we did the official Neighbours tour!!!!! We first stopped off at Erinsburogh High which is actually a language school then we got taken to Ramsey street, which is actually called Pin Oak. Its so weird coz its a real street in the middle of a housing estate , just looks completley normal, and real people live in the houses. Was really cool to see all the houses though, they look exactly like they do in neighbours! The bus that did the tour as well was fun, played classic episodes of neighbours all day! saw Madges death, which was classic! at the end of the tour we got to meet an ex cast member, we got to meet darcy, who was the evil doctor was in it for a few years, well he's got grey hair now!! was really nice though!
Next day we went to the Melbourne museum for a look around, was really good, had a bug, marine, life mind and body, dinosaurs, 3D, forests, aboriginal and an australian section. Afterwarsds me and lucy went shopping but got a bit lost! lol That evening we headed off on the tram down to neighbours night in St Kilda to the elephant and wheelbarrow. We got to meet Janelle, Conner, Sindi, Libby, and Karl and his band played1 was a really good night. Karls band were really really good! we all got our photos with all the stars as well!
We hired a car for the next 2 days to go and do the Great Ocean Road. it got dropped off at our hostel at 9am so we were all ready to go. We managed to get out of the city withouht any major problems, and onto the right freeway. Our first stop along the road was Bells Beach which was quite a stunning beach, despite the cloudy weather. Next stop was Spit Lighthouse which is the lighthouse from round the twist, if anyone remembers that tv programme! in the afternoon we headed up to Erskine Falls which we had to walk down then back up about 100 steps!! lol then we headed off to Apollo Bay for the night where we satyed in Surfside backpackers.
