After a full day on the road it was great to get out and see some of Cambodia. Angkor Wat is the biggest temple in the world, measuring 1.3km by 1.5km! We saw some incredible ruins and had a guided tour around 3 of the best temples, Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm and Angker Thom. Amazingly these huge structures were completely covered by jungle and only re-discovered and excavated in the 1960s. We were incredibly lucky with the weather as there was torrential rain for the hour we sat under shelter for lunch, but dry the rest of the day (just as well as Luke dropped my umbrella the night before behind our seats at a bar, irretrievable as it dropped away down to floor level).
We had a really interesting day and learnt a lot about the history of the area. The only downside being my camera getting stolen early on in the day. Very frustratingly it is my underwater camera, that apparently is no longer in production and cannot even be bought second hand on ebay. We're going with joint blame at 2 all...
Luke
1. Persuading me to bring my underwater camera out when it has never been out of its underwater housing in 2 years other than to be charged (normally I take a cheap one out and about, but apparently 'It will be fine')
2. Not realising he was supposed to pick up the rucksack AND the camera when I said grab that and let's go
Me
1. Listening to Luke when he told me to take my underwater camera as a day camera and believing it would be fine
2. Not checking Luke had actually picked up the camera after being told to
After that we had a nice meal at a local restaurant with the group, some much needed local beer (called Cambodia) followed by cocktails then shopping in the night market. Here Luke began to get back into my good books as haggling with the locals over just a few pence was clearly his calling. We finished up in a local bar called Angkor What? where English music played loud enough to hear it 300m down the road.

oatcake mum Sad news about your camera. Hopefully, the far east being the home of cheap (er) electronics, you should be able to get a replacement. At least Luke knows what to get you for your birthday.
