We spent 7.5 hours on a train and 6 hours on a ferry today. The train was a long painful journey, I don't sleep well in a sitting position and even less so with the lights on. Then 30 of us squeezed into a songtaew taxi for a 30 minute drive the pier where we found a very crowded overfill ferry waiting for us. It was bucketing down with rain and we didn't have a choice but to stand on the deck of the boat with the other 200 people. First we arrived on Koh Tao, the diving island where we dropped off about 100 people and picked up another 200. All of our luggage was literally thrown over the water (some bags were dropped and things fell out into the water) and dumped on top of each other, then a tarp was placed over the top so people could sit on it. After a few more hours we arrived in Koh Phangan, after an argument with the luggage man I finally got my bag safely and checked my laptop to make sure it wasn't cracked or broken but by some miracle it was fine. By now I was in a pretty bad mood, sunburnt, hot and tired of being shouted at by rude Thai men Sophie and I put our packs on and trudged on to find a taxi. About 12 people and luggable squeezed into a small songtaew and we drove grouch the island to triangle lodge which is where we were planning on staying for a few night. We checked in and made ourselves at home before finding some food. We then spend the rest of the afternoon and evening sitting by the beach.
