Arrived at 5:30pm last night, and as I got in it was snowing! The flights were so long and dull, but as we were landing in Rome I was really excited because I thought I might see the Colosseum but it was insanely foggy and so I didn't...
In Rome, I went to check in my suitcase for the next flight to Turin and they were awful and told me that I had to remove about a million kg of luggage or else pay €100 so I gave it a go and then they reweighed it and it had gone up. Needless to say, I had four carry on bags and my arms are very sore from lugging them all around.
Turin is so pretty and so different to home - heaps of the streets are super skinny and cobbled and there are churches all over the place. It is absolutely freezing though, and my toes have gone numb. Today Meredith and I went to Ikea which was so exciting, and everyone looked at us like we were crazy when they heard us speaking english... While we were driving we went past a sign pointing to a place called Susa, and I had to get out of the car and take a photo. Classics people will understand. Tomorrow I think we're going to go the the Museo Egizio which will be pretty much great, and maybe go look at a casual palace or two.
The whole Cistaro/Buxton family are so lovely. They've been trying to speak english to me and they boys (Alessandro is eight and Gabri is six) have given me heaps of hugs. In fact, tonight Gabri was pleading with his mum to let me hop into my pajamas and get into his parents' bed with him to watch some TV!
Anyway, I am freezing my butt off so I'm going to hop into bed and finish reading The Secret History. Arrivederci!
