Eleana's African Travels
It has been a great weekend!! Friday we went to the Animal Rehab center where we got to see lions, cheetahs, leopards, wild dogs, and vultures. I got to hold a bird!! It is amazing what people can do to help animals!! It was beautiful. The place that we stayed was amazing. I stayed in a little cottage. It overlooked a pond with 3 hippos. The hippos are so big!! It is so neat. We went on a walk Friday afternoon and we got really close to zebra and buffalo. It was fun but a little scary because nothing stood in between me and the buffalo charging me. It was amazing being that close to them though!! Saturday was more of a relaxing day. We hung around the cottage and we had a potkey which is a bbq. We ate a traditional South African dish that was made of ox tail and it was really good. Sunday we went to the Cheetah Project. The Cheetah Project is a cheetah reserve that rescues and breeds cheetahs. They were beautiful. After the reserve we drove through Kruger Park where we were lucky enough to see lions!!! Lions are rare to see in the park because there are so few but we saw 3 female lions just lying in the road. They cause quite large traffic jams in the park. It was amazing. They were just as lazy as they could be ignoring all the people hanging out their car windows taking pictures. They were beautiful. If I did not know they were dangerous animals I would have jumped out of the car and played with them!!! It was great. Well this is my last week in Hazyview. Next week it is off to Joberg for the rest of my trip. I am still waiting to get the first shipment of donations from home. We are going to the orphanage on Friday. Mom said that there are some companies that would like to make donations!!! I hope we have some luck!!! Love you guy!!!
