Eleana's African Travels
Hi everyone. Today was an emotional day. We met Frank today who is in charge of the AIDS Orphanage and Disabled childrens home. He is amazing. He does amazing things with nothing in return. He fights and fights for these children until he gets what he wants. It was tough today seeing all the children but it was more difficult seeing all of the disabled children that had nothing. The people here believe if you have a disabled child it is a curse from God and they try to hide them but Frank and the disabled childrens center let the children have a life outside of hiding. They come to the center and learn and play with the other kids. It is just sad seeing a paralyzed child with no wheelchair because they can't afford it.
We delivered the mattresses to the AIDS children today and they we so excited. We got to see them after they got back from school at their lunch time. Being their I realized how privilaged we are for our public schools to be like they are. These kids don't get food at school. So the children might go all day without a bite to eat. That is how the AIDS orphanage was started to feed the children. The center is open to make sure that the children get at least one meal a day.
I am so glad that I was able to meet the children today. It was just a little emotional. I am so happy that I have been able to get so much support for these children from friends and family at home. They need all that they can get. Thank you!!!
