We are back home in Canada. What a great project- Rotary Highway to Mexico! We were successful in bringing much needed fire trucks, ambulance and bus to communities in the Mazatlan area.
On Friday morning we met for breakfast with the Mayor of Mazatlan and his wife along with our Rotarian friends. The Mayor presented each Rotary crew member with a certificate and a shirt from the City.He applauded the efforts of Rotary in his community and the dramatic impact that we have on the people. After breakfast we had a couple of hours for last minute shopping and sunning before heading to the Airport. We were seen off by our Mazatlan Rotary friends.A short plane trip (in comparison to 7 days on the road) and we were in Edmonton. The Edson crew headed back to Edson and the Grande Prairie crew had one more night in the hotel before their flight to Grande Prairie on Saturday afternoon.
This has been another great Rotary to Mexico project led by Allan and Pepe.We cannot begin to appreciate how much work goes into bringing these vehicles to Mazatlan.Allan and Pepe have the total support of their Rotary Clubs. Thanks to the Rotary Clubs of Mazatlan, Swan City Rotary Club, Sunrise Rotary Club, Grande Prairie Rotary Club and the Edson Rotary Club for their support of the project. This year we were also supported by the Rotary Club of Navolato and the Rotary Club of Rosario and Escuinapa. The project was also supported by the Rotary District Governor of Sinola. We extend our deepest appreciation to each of these groups.
There are so many people that have had such an impact on this project:Pepe, Martin, Lorena, Karla, Laura, Kokin, Rosita, Marco, Cacho, Natcho, Colleen, Paulina, Memo…the list goes on.
We are also honored to be involved with the Bomberos Vetranos, Mazatlan Bomberos, Navolato Bomberos and Escuinapa Bomberos, Rosario Hospital and the City of Mazatlan.
What a great road crew- Allan Kuechle, Harm Gerrits, Cedrick LeBlanc, Eve Lepinski, Len Tollenaar, Tab Pollock, Tom Brewer, Brent Bibby, Joan Sinclair, Gerry Dobko, Troy Sorensen and Murray Heinrich.
We have added some more pictures from the last few days- enjoy.
Looking forward to Rotary to Mexico 2011.Allan and Harm already have a school bus, fire truck and an ambulance sitting at Harm's yard ready to go.
SEE YOU NEXT YEAR
