hi everyone,
we are just about to leave denmark. we have been here 10 days and have done heaps of sightseeing. We have climbed denmark's highest hill(actually drove up to the spot and climbed up the tower, all of 15m), seen the world's oldest paddle steamer nr Silkeborg, and visited the world's longest wooden boat: frigate lyllend, builtin 1856 about and used as a danish warship - very interesting.
We have visited the danish town of Ribe, the oldest town, and climbed the church tower there along with heaps of other families. it's school holidays here.
while its expensive to get into places, there are also many free things here, like the park in kolding. Yesterday we did a walk out on an ismuthus to a medievil castle, built in 14th century and later destroyed in the 16th. <it was in ruins, but it was great to walk the 3k on the cobbled road out there - the oldest road around now, untouched since it was built. and look out to sea. before a rain storm came in.
We have decided not to do the theme park in Denmark, its just too expensive and we have done it all in <heide park.
today we are tidying up. The summer house has been great for catching up.
Food is more expensive here than germany, but on the whole its not too bad if you do all your own cooking. We have been having filled rolls for lunch everyday, and the kids are just starting to get sick of them , but if you are hungry, you will eat anything.Tim of course really enjoyed catching his fish , but also found the windmills out at sea fasinating and climbing all the towers. He was intrigued by the bogman and how it was preserved. We ask the lady at the front of the museum and she said in the fifties, they filled the head with wax to keep it from disintergrating. He tried on the heavy mail and helmets.
